Mismatched Eyes: The Perfect Stage [Episode 161118]

by Adyen

"There's no meaning to this fight if I don't do this with my own strengths!" Asuna exclaimed to Colonel Sanders, who was telepathically helping Asuna in her fight against Setsuna. "If I don't show that stubborn Negi how serious I am about this, he won't understand! So please, let me do this by myself!"

Hmm... I understand... Sanders telepathically told her. But you will probably lose, then. Is that still alright?

Asuna's heart thumped as she remembered scenes in Negi's memories about how he's chasing after his father's shadow.

"Asuna!" Setsuna yelled as she released one of the Shinmeiryuu ougis. Asuna quickly guarded her vital spots, but was then distracted by what Sanders said next.

Certainly, there are dangers waiting for that child in the future. And if you leave him like that, it's possible that you'll lose him as well...

"Wha..." Asuna managed before she suddenly noticed that Setsuna was heading towards her from the air.

"Here I come!" The Shinmeiryuu swordswoman yelled as she came down, intending to finish the fight.

Unable to find any way to dodge, Asuna gritted her teeth and hoped that it won't hurt much when...

It was a deep forest. In front of her was an old man who looked a lot like Takamichi, but bleeding from various places - especially from his chest.

"Yo, Takamichi." He said. "Have a light?"

Takamichi quickly brought out his lighter and lit the man's cigarette. The man slowly placed it in his mouth and inhaled, then letting it out slowly.

"Ahhh..." He let out, looking at (Takamichi?) and her. "Go on. I'll manage, somehow."

Coughing a bit, he glanced at Asuna and asked, "What's wrong, young lady? Are you crying?" He smiled. "That's the first time I've seen tears on your face... I'm honored."

"Master..." Takamichi managed out, a look of shock and sadness on his young face.

"Takamichi..." The man coughed. "Could you erase her memories about me?"

"What are you talking about, Master?!" Takamichi exclaimed incredulously.

"She..." cough "won't need it from now on..."

Asuna felt tears running down her face. "No... Nagi's gone now... and now you too... Please don't..." She kneeled beside the man and grabbed hold of the hand holding the cigarette, unwilling to believe her eyes.

The man's gentle smile never left his face as he lifted his free hand and ruffled her hair.

"Live a happy life." He said. "You have that right."

"No..." Asuna cried. "You can't! Mr. Gatou! I don't want you to die!"

Suddenly, a burst of memories(?) opened up within Asuna and her harisen suddenly exploded into strips of ribbons. Surprisingly, she suddenly seemed to disappear from Setsuna's view!

Even before Setsuna managed to widen her eyes in shock, the ribbons suddenly seemed to contract and flew towards the swordswoman in mid-air, wrapping her up and pulling her backwards. She managed to realize that Asuna had somehow got behind her as she felt Asuna's feet impact on her back, throwing her back down towards the ground and Asuna back towards the air.

Just as she was about to impact the ground, she felt the ribbons contract and felt whatever is connected between her and Asuna go taut, somehow making her to fly sideways in extreme G-forces.

As she struggled to get out of the bind, Setsuna managed to see that the ribbon used to tie her up was connected to a bunch of bandage-like ribbons that was wrapped around Asuna's hand, and she had somehow stepped on the ribbon with enough force to cause Setsuna to fly back towards Asuna.

Still unable to get free, Setsuna suddenly figured out what Asuna was going to do and her eye's widened in shock. 'This, is going to hurt.' Was her last thought before she reached the peak of the turn.

Asuna seemed to be running on the ribbon as she caught Setsuna and followed the G-Force to spin Setsuna around a few times before throwing her down to the ground. This time, the ribbons didn't go taut and the resulting landing caused the floor to buckle and creating a small crater.

Asuna, for her part, landed safely besides the crater and seemed to be shaking herself out of a dream. The ribbons turned slack, and she instinctively pulled on it; causing the ribbons that were holding Setsuna to snap back towards her and reforming the harisen.

With one hand held to her head, Asuna tried to grab hold of the memories that flashed by her, but only managed to grab some vague impressions about fighting and a young girl with some sort of markings on her face.
