Some woman had thrown them all here together. Those three gals had come to try and get someone to safety, had ended up going along for the ride, and now they'd just had enough power to arrange for everyone's survival. Now they'd spent that energy - they weren't able to help anyone much less get them all back.
So here they were in some spaceship, where they had a CHANCE to find a way to get back. Or else they were stuck here for however many years they could get going, which wasn't much with the food and water and stuff they could stretch out.
Ranma understood the basics, thank you very much. It was NOT a martial arts situation, and he did NOT have the skills necessary to do any of the work that needed to be done right now. He was a person of action, and when stressed would go into action. Except that no action he could take would be useful right now, so he was stuck doing something less useful.
Prowling the corridors of the Yamato, looking for a fight.
There were others, mainly girls who looked like scrappers themselves, also looking for a fight - but nobody wanted to risk punching through a wall and ending up with vaccuum. One encounter with being deep-spaced was quite enough for everyone involved.
They didn't know what all had gone on, except that the world they knew was cut off from them. They were cast adrift, their ship currently heading back to an Earth that was somewhere in the future. Worse, there was an alien conquerer that had taken over the planet and causing a whole lot of suffering for the remaining pockets of humanity.
Well, it was something to do at least.
He even had a name of this conquerer, though it wasn't one he was familiar with - it just helped to put a name on this enemy.
