As the boat slowly made its way to Mipross, Lina felt the tug inside her get stronger. After finished fifty platters of various types of food offered by the ship's mess hall, she stood up and stretched.
"Naga, I'm heading to our quarters. I'm finished," Lina said.
"Have you lost your appetite?" Naga asked.
Lina shook her head. "I need to go over some magic that I'm working on. I need to write it down, before I forget it."
"Oh. Okay. I'd like to see what you're working on,"
"You will Naga. You will," Lina thought, as she headed back to the room.
Looking around the small room with only a pile of hay to act as a bed, Lina sighed and shook her head in disgust.
"For a pair of prize tickets, they could have at least given us something other than coach. At any rate, I need to work on my little problem."
Lina pulled out one of the pads of paper she carried with her and started writing down various phrases. She tapped the feathered end of her quill against her headband and started thinking about her situation.
"I don't want people to know that it's me acting like an idiot. These phrases seem to be what a heroine of justice would say. As much as it pains me, I'll have to pass on any reward and vanish quickly. I'll also have to damp down any comments about my chest or looks. I almost feel sorry for the bandit group I'll next encounter after I go through that nonsense."
Lina thought back to her fight with Blarvex the Mazoku can recalled the feeling of hurting a Mazoku with a kick.
"That was a real rush. My forehead felt different, like I was wearing something other than my headband. I wonder."
Lina put the pad of paper and quill down and summoned her instruction manual and started looking through the book to find the costume design. She found a concept sketch of the entire ensemble.
"Oh look. A picture of a person with no eyes, nose, mouth, or ears," Lina thought in amusement. "Okay. I wasn't wearing my headband. I was wearing a tiara? I'm not a princess. Wait a second here. According to this, the original Sailor Senshi suits were white with some other color for the skirt. Why is mine pink with a white skirt? No. The color I got when I was given my mage ranking affected the outfit."
Lina read something more and headed to the washroom in a slight daze. She slowly removed her headband and looked at her reflection. She concentrated on the area underneath the two dots on her face. A glowing pink star made of two interlocking triangles appeared on her forehead. In the center of the star was a stylized R, also glowing pink. The symbol faded out and Lina quickly replaced her headband.
"I've been branded," Lina thought, as she went back and picked up her instruction manual.
She sent the book back into subspace and picked up her quill pen and paper pad. Shaking her head, she started writing down ways to keep Sailor Magic's real identity a secret. At the top of the list was 'find some way to keep a headband on at all times'.
"I'll have to come up with a headband for sleeping and one for swimming, or I'm going to have to fins some way to keep that symbol from glowing when I have the headband off," Lina thought. "I know it only appears in times of extreme emotion or when I concentrate hard, but I don't want to take the chance."
Lina looked at what she had written down and wrinkled her nose in disgust.
"Yuck. This is just something I have to deal with. It's just me acting a role to keep the idiocy away from my real life," Lina thought, and then tapped the pad against her cheek. "For some reason, I have the feeling there is a saying that that applies to this, but I can't recall what it was. It's probably not important. According to that book, I should force the Mazoku to appear in a public place and defeat it in full view of a crowd to inspire hope"
Lina shook her head and memorized the various phrases that she would recite as Sailor Magic. She put the pad and quill away and lay down on the matress. Tomorrow would come soon enough for Lina for she could sense the pressence of a powerful Mazoku on the island
"I really hate this compulsion to track down Mazoku terrorizing humans."
With that thought, Lina fell asleep.
