"Uh right," said Genma, seeing possibilities there but not willing to relinquish his boy indefinitely. "How long?"
"High school lasts for three years," pointed out the principal.
"Ah," said Genma. Three years was so terribly long when he could be ensuring that Ranma married a Tendo and supported his old man in the manner that he wished to become accustomed to.
"Your second possibility," said the principal, leaning back in his chair, "is that you make contact with your son only under very secure and controlled circumstances. You will be given a list of subjects you will not broach under any circumstances. You will not attempt to steal, lie, or cheat. Failure to comply with these restrictions will be punished rather harshly."
"Both are unacceptable," said Genma.
"The last possibility is that my associates will take you into custody," indicated the principal. "You wouldn't like it, Mister Saotome."
"I'd like to see them try," said Genma, confident in his abilities.
Ranma attended the classes, frequently yawning. Everyone was pretty much used to it at this point. Even the teacher didn't do more than shoot an annoyed glance. If Saotome didn't start snoring, that was good enough.
Ranma had rivals and opponents, but he also had supporters.
