"That's really simple to explain, Dad," his middle daughter answered with a nonchalant smile. "In the same way that Kasumi knew to make unagi for your friend, since he likes it so much."
"How did you know that?!" Genma blurted.
"Because I told them," a soft voice said behind him.
"N... no... Nodoka?!"
"That is my name, husband."
The Tendo patriarch's eyes went so wide that they were nearly circles in his head, and he stared at the lovely woman who was standing with his friend. "That is Saotome's wife?! But how could she be here?!"
"It's really simple, Dad. We live in Tokyo, not some cabin deep in the mountains. There are trains and cabs," Akane informed her father in a voice fairly dripping with mockery.
Nabiki gave her younger sister a small nod before looking at their father. "I do believe that you mean to wonder how could have any reason to know that she should be here."
"That's exactly it. What else could I have meant?!" Soun asked like there was no way there ever could be any further confusion.
"You could have been talking about how your friend could have a wife period, which would reflect bad on your belief in his romantic abilities, or 'inabilities' as the case might have been. Or you could have been surprised that he would have a wife while still having a legitimate heir, which would mean that you would need to have that special talk, the one about 'the birds and the bees'. I would have thought that you knew about that one already, Daddy."
"I just want to know why she decided to come here now...."
"I called her."
"YOU WHAT?!" both fathers bellowed.
"It wasn't like I used telepathy, magic, or something like that. What else could I use?"
"But how could you be able to bring my wife here?" Genma whined.
"I already told you. I know her."
"From where?"
"Oh that. Well, other than just happening to be the mother of the guy who saved Kasumi from some thugs.... I can't think of anything...." the middle Tendo daughter said with a shrug.
"He... saved my baby?" her father asked.
Ranma shrugged. "It wasn't like I had any choice 'bout it. Either I save Kasumi, or I could try not bein' able ta live with myself. So, I didn't even think before doin' it."
"That doesn't exactly tell us why you didn't let us know about this sooner!" his father barked.
"Simple. Ya didn't tell us that ya knew each other, so we had no reason ta think that it'd be important ta ya. At least, I didn't."
"But, I would have thought that I would have been told about something so important...." Soun murmured almost brokenly.
"'Bout us knowing each other?"
"About my sweet and gentle daughter being attacked...."
Kasumi reached over and held her father's hands between her own. "We didn't want to trouble you, Father."
"Well, the next time that such a thing comes up, bother me!"
For those watching, it was a moment to smile at the love that a father had for his daughters, no matter how overprotective he might be.
Of course, they had Genma Saotome to take the moment away from any sentimentality, and back into the strangeness of the situation at hand. "Do you children have any other surprises for us?"
"You:
