Ranma gave his father a resolute little nod. "I'll do my best, Papa!"
"Then go and do it, boy!"
"Sure thing, Papa!"
The Saotome patriarch watched his son go off and grinned to himself at the coming spoils. He would be able to have a nice okonomiyaki, and all that he'd have to do would be to wait for it. When he'd seen, and smelled, what had been cooking on that mobile grill, he couldn't help but start licking his lips. It was going to be one of the better meals that he'd ever had, and he got to train his son in quick attack and avoidance techniques to boot.
And by the growing noises, he could tell that his son had gone straight for what he'd been sent for. All that it would take would be a few moments, and he would have one of those tasty okonomiyaki dishes heading right for his mouth. His mouth was already salivating in anticipation of it, and he knew that he was going to be more than happy with what he was going to get.
"Look Papa! I've got it!" chirped his son's voice.
Rubbing his hands together, Genma let the excitement that he was feeling bubble up inside of him as he turned... and saw his son holding the okonomiyaki cart over his head! "What's this?!"
"You told me to get all that I could get."
"But... but... this?"
"Uh-huh!"
"I didn't realize...." the man in the white gi whimpered as he looked up at his son. The boy certainly had the strength that it would take to be a great warrior, but it was also clear that this was not quite how things were supposed to go. And he could even see the face of a child no older than his son on top of the cart, blinking down at him. "You've brought something back that's alive too, boy!"
"Oh? I did?"
"Yes, you did!"
Ranma looked up at the pair of eyes peering down towards the two Saotomes, and cocked his head to the side. "Can I keep it?"
That stopped his father, the chef who'd been chasing after the little boy, and the little girl on top of the cart in their tracks.
The urge to shake her head was simply too strong in Setsuna to ignore. As far as she could tell, if anything, Ranma wasn't too complicated in how he expressed himself, especially when he was young. He was one of those individuals who was simply not naturally inclined to cynicism, word games, or even thinking before speaking.
And now, that was leading to some... interesting results.
"'Agreement'?" Ranma muttered, sounding out the word as he said it. "What sort of thing is that supposed to be?"
Ucchan, always his good buddy, made sure to make sure that he understood the meaning of what was being revealed to him. At least, as best as a six-year old girl could. "It means that they're trying to make it so that this way we'll be together."
"They are? We will?"
"You don't like it?"
"No, it'd be great for us to be sticking together. But.... How long'd that be?"
"Forever, silly!" she sighed as only a little girl trying to act like an adult could.
"Wow! That'd be cool!"
"You think so?"
"Uh-huh!" he responded, and looked thoughtful. "Then I'd be keepin' ya 'round like I wanted ta when I first saw ya?"
"Something like that...."
"Oh...."
"Then you got it. You're okay with it?" Ukyo murmured hopefully.
"It's good ta me. I'll keep ya with me forever!"
"You will?!"
The pigtailed boy nodded, certain that he'd be able to keep his promise. After all, he'd only have to make certain to bring his buddy along, and since Ucchan didn't weigh all that much, he could carry his friend as they went. And he'd just have to make sure that his pal was with him when they left an area.
Ukyo was a little too starry eyed at the moment to realize that what she'd said might not have quite gotten through as she'd like. But it was close enough, for the time being.
There was something rather fitting about the situation, as the children seemed to have managed to bumble their way past Genma's likely intentions. She didn't know if it was simply the amusement that came from knowing that Genma wasn't slick enough here to keep the situation under control, or that this was beginning to resemble a movie where the kids beat the bad guys, but it wasn't as hard as she might have thought to watch it. Though, this was not quite what she had in mind when she'd started to watch what was going to happen in the timeline.
Then again, she had to admit that she could have expected to see that this would happen, along with what was going to happen next.
Not that she was going to bother with trying to predict how things would go, even if the next thing that she watched was how:
