Megami Academy: Gifts [Episode 166614]

by Kestral

There was an odd effect that came from human-alien offspring. Sometimes the result one would expect - that alien abilities would be halved - was the result. Sometimes you ended up with odd results, where completely new abilities were gained at the expense of the old. And sometimes you ended up with the same abilities - amplified.

Ranma was one such. The child of a Tatajin and a human martial artist. Nodoka could lift/press roughly five tons. Ranma was five years old, and roughly of the same strength level.

Of course, psychokinetically amplified strength wasn't the only thing you needed to have in high gravity. Greater gravity required faster reflexes.

Nor was he the only one, there was a guy named Ryoga Hibiki whose mother was likewise a Tatajin. Naturally, she didn't get lost nearly so often. Mental shielding defended against mental curses, even those that came into play because you got married into the family curse.

Not that everything was easy for hybrids. There were always going to be those who viewed crossing bloodlines as a bad thing, even when the species was the same and the amount of genetic drift not readily apparent even to other members of that same species.

CRUNCH! Ranma's fingers dug into the wood of the post. THWAM!

The farmer's jaw dropped.

"Like that, Pop?" asked Ranma.

"Yes, all along the border of this field," said Genma, nodding. "You need to work on your accuracy and control. Don't crush the posts, space them out precisely."

"Yup!" said Ranma. It was martial arts training after all.

Ukyo stared. She knew Ranma was strong. When you were in an okonomiyaki cart being hefted by a little boy, you kinda noticed. At a couple of points she'd seen more evidence that Ranma was STRONG. The first time he slipped and crushed a wooden post roughly three adult-fists thick, it penetrated exactly how strong Ranma was.

She was a little over five years old, but she had a sudden appreciation for the fragility of human life.

Ukyo swallowed nervously, perspiring quite heavily.

Genma scratched his head. "You want to go visit Ranma's mother?"

"Yeah," said little Ukyo. "That'll be fun."

He certainly wasn't going to complain. Genma had planned on leaving the girl behind. It wasn't like he could properly train Ranma and keep him away from female influences if they brought a girl with them. "All right. I'll give you the address."

It wasn't like he planned on visiting Nodoka until AFTER the marriage had occurred to one of Tendo's daughters. At which point it would be too late to do anything about it.
