Being rammed to the floor by telepathic feedback was never fun, and when the feedback in question was from other versions of yourself who were as happy - or not happy - as yourself about the general situation they found themselves in...
Gaaaaah.
Though it might be worthwhile to try and set up some sort of mutual support group later, she supposed. Though several versions of things like that had come and gone over the ages, in this kind of situation, having some kind of support system seemed to be... prudent.
But that was for later.
Now was for trying to figure out just what kind of world she belonged to, currently...
How very, very, strange...
It still seemed to be close enough to the Earth she remembered, at first glance, but all those spaceships and other intelligent species walking the streets...
...Hmmm. So what did they call themselves... the Federation?
Not to mention that it felt familiar, somehow... She'd seen something, or something very much like that, in one of the telepathic flashbacks she'd gotten just a half an hour ago, maybe?
Well, OK, then. Let's see if she could get anything else...
The scanners wrr'd and wrr'd and wrr'd. Come on, she knew there was something out there...
Ahh. At last. It was some kind of smoky bar...
"Hey, 'Ruka. 'Ruka, we have found ourselves a bargain!"
It wasn't Kaidou Michiru, but it was close enough.
Even with the green skin. And... Other differences.
The scanner's translation programming was kicking in, but not very well, Setsuna noticed blankly.
"I. Utterly. Refuse to sell you off as a slave-girl. Again."
But this...
Surely wasn't "Tennou Haruka".
Even though there was a resemblance, if you looked sideways. Carefully. Dusky-skinned and hunky though she was...
"C'mon, 'Ruka, we do want a ship of our own, right?"
"Well yeah, and more then one would be nice, too. But 'Chiru - "
"Come, now. Captain 'Ruka, scourge of the spaceways - "
"Yeah, yeah, yeah, and m'father would whine all over me that his daughter isn't supposed to be the privateer while his son marries into a good family - Again. Gaaaaah."
"'Ruka" downed her mug of something brown.
"I'm thinking rather bigger then "Privateer", 'Ruka. - Eventually."
"'Chiru" smiled, seductively.
"Besides - your father first has to come into hearing distance to, um, lecture you. Correct?"
"'Ruka" sighed, and nodded.
OK, so "'Ruka" was a "Klingon" and "Chiru" was an "Orion", whatever that was.
Setsuna sighed. She'd better get ready to spend some time figuring out what was what...
But not right now. Her headache was killing her.
Setsuna shook her head, miserably.
Maybe she should call it a day and try scanning another day.
She could feel the power-lines running here and there, but...
Ahh, what the hell.
Time was scarce, she could feel that for some reason, but she still had some leeway.
Not much, but some.
She went to bed, and dreamed of a Crystelline Palace, and a Silver-Gold Queen with buns on her head...
