Pluto Plucks The Strings (V2): Some Things Familiar, Some Things Not At All... [Episode 167053]

by Linnara

OK, OK...Setsuna made sure her telepathic defenses were in place before trying to scan this time.

Being rammed to the floor by telepathic feedback was never fun, and when the feedback in question was from other versions of yourself who were as happy - or not happy - as yourself about the general situation they fond themselves in...

Gaaaaah.

Though it might be worthwhile to try and set up some sort of mutual support group later, she supposed. Though several versions of things like that had come and gone over the ages, in this kind of situation, having some kind of support system seemed to be... prudent.

But that was for later.

Now was for trying to figure out just what kind of world she belonged...

Several hours later, Setsuna was sitting back in her chair, almost chuckling with relief.

The bright and shiny (to her at least...) timeline she belonged to now was surprisingly similar to the old one that she remembered.

Oh, there were many minor differences, and some perhaps not very minor after all differences that she didn't quite understand yet, but all the principal players were still there and even mostly recognizable.

This was a pretty good situation, if she said so herself - especially compared to the various and sundry situations that many, many of the other versions of herself that had just floored her with their telepathic feedback had found themselves in, anyhow...

Well, well, well.

And that was the moment that she realized that somebody was hailing the Time Gate's coms.

"...Knock knock, who's there?" Well, it wasn't like she didn't have a good guess...

"Pluto." Was the oddly chirpy answer. Heavens, did she actually sound like that?

"Pluto who?"

"Oh come on, it's not like you can't guess..."

Well, true. Setsuna sighed, then, turning on full visuals. Yep, that was another version of her, all right.

"Well, I seemed to be one of the more-or-less lucky ones, and I so are you as far as I can guess. - Wanna talk?"

Setsuna blinked, then. "Sure. Why not?"

"Well, you see." The other Setsuna grinned. "Since my timeline looks more or less handlable, I've been scanning the other newly amalagated timelines that aren't mine, while I still can, and..."

Ahh, yes. That.

Setsuna sighed, smiled, and sat back to listen. She wasn't planning to go peeking around in other timelines till she got a better handle on the one she belonged to now, that was for sure, but it wasn't like she was in a position to judge what other versions of herself were doing in their individual situations, anyhow...

"And well, there's this entire new and sparkling - from our point of view, anyway - Timeline cluster that has to be seen to be believed..."

**Timeline A1

The Mobile Armor raced towards the 'legged' Warship, engines blazing.

"Oh, damnit, sorry - " Mustn'tcrashmustn'tcrashmustn'tmustn'tmustn't -

"Major Flaga, are you all righ..." Mwu La Flaga groaned. There had been a 'ouch' somewhere in her words, he could just hear them...

He looked at the utter mess he'd made of her poor landing deck, and almost groaned.

"Captain! Are you all - " Murrue Ramies, Murrue Ramies - I keep ending up hurting you why

"I'm all right - Kira-kun!" And then the Wunderkind was in the sky, beam-cannons blazing, and -

Get me mobile, damnit! What was the use of a Mobile Armor that couldn't move, anyway?

I'm a big Ship, I'll be alright - Mwu groaned, remembering another conversation they had had, Murrue's little hologram-image wheeling besides him.

Because nobody but nobody could be lucky for ever.

Even one of the one code-named the 'Archangel'...

**Timeline B-1

The little figure hopped neatly into the feeding pen.

"What? Petting Deathscythe again, kid?"

"Boo." The little Vehicle made a face. "I take better care of 'im then most of the folks that're supposed to, anyway."

"...Well, yeah, I suppose so..." The old scientist murmured, digging his wheels against the floor.

******************************************

An entire Timeline Cluster filled with worlds full of - Intelligent cars and other vehicles?

Setsuna stared. Now that was a new one to her anyway, she did have to admit...

Damn. Now she wanted to go scan new and strange sights...
