10 Rings: Who’s afraid of the wicked witch? [Episode 1681]

by Greyman

The red-haired gypsy woman’s face was evilly lit by the mysterious swirling light as her clawlike hands made passes over her crystal ball. “Let me tell you your future, Dearie,” said Beryl. “You will not have one unless you give me that ring now!”

“Ranma, be careful,” Saturn warned. “I can sense a dark energy within her, and look at her hands! Somehow that witch has the rings!” That wasn’t supposed to be possible. Her old master had only been able to call her forth for a time because, despite his perverted ways, there was some good within him. But there wasn’t a spark of goodness within the witch.

“That’s right brat!” Beryl cackled. “And soon you will join your sisters in bondage. Give me that ring, Boy!”

“No!” Ranma said defiantly as he stood in front of his friend. “I won’t let you hurt Saturn!”

“Saturn?” Beryl’s eyes widened in momentary fear. Then she smirked knowingly as she glanced at the little genie. “Don’t worry, Boy, I’m not going to hurt her. I’m going to keep her safely locked away, just like her sisters. Genie Uranus, Genie Neptune, I summon thee!”

A geyser of water exploded upwards behind Beryl and to the right, then subsided to reveal the elegant Marid of Neptune. The earth erupted to the left side of Beryl’s back and the Dao of Uranus emerged from the ground. Both Genies were tall women, clad in silken harem outfits; like Saturn’s but of different colors and a lot more rudely revealing. They did not make sentai poses nor announce themselves with a speech because chains and shibari ropes bound their bodies and their mouths were fitted with ball-gags and bits. They were collared and Beryl took hold of their leashes in one manicured hand.

It was Saturn’s turn to widen her eyes in fear. Being shackled like that did not mean that the two genies were powerless; far from it. What it meant was that the evil witch somehow had gained complete control of them and their powers while Saturn herself had only limited access to her own power; especially while she was in her little girl body! Ranma wasn’t old enough for them to have bonded properly or anything.

“Let them go!” Ranma said angrily. He was just a little boy, and she was a scary, evil witch, but he was also a martial artist. His father always said that martial artists had to fight monsters to protect the weak and helpless and stuff, and those bound women looked really, really helpless.

“Do not be a fool, Boy,” Beryl said scornfully. “Your little genie is no match for me and mine. Give me that ring now, or I will take it from you.”

“You’ll get it over my dead body!” Ranma proclaimed.

“Oh, very well,” Beryl said tiredly. “If that’s the way you want it, I’ll be happy to oblige. World …”

“Silence Wall!” Saturn screamed and threw her magik into a protective barrier in front of Ranma.

“… Shaking!” Beryl cried and threw the spell at Saturn, blowing her away. The little genie hadn’t been able to draw enough of her power to protect the both of them.

“You killed Saturn!” Ranma cried. “You bi#ch!”

“That’s witch!” Beryl corrected. “And she’s just knocked out. You, however, I will kill unless you give me that ring right now. You’re just a weak little boy without her so …”

“No!” Ranma cried angrily at the taunt. “I’m not weak! I’ll show you!”

Beryl gasped in surprise as the boy hurtled forward at an astonishing rate, then she was propelled backwards by the impact of his boot-to-the-head technique. It was obvious that he was no ordinary little boy, but then, too, she was no ordinary woman. “You little brat,” Beryl spat blood as she picked herself up. “You’ll regret that impudence. Nobody hits Beryl the Black and…”

“I’m not nobody!” he cried defiantly. “I’m Ranma Saotome! Heir to the Saotome School of Martial Arts. And in the name of the Saotome School, I challenge you!”

“You have no idea with what you’re dealing,” Beryl said furiously and raised her claw. “I will kill you…
