But now he was also a rune mage, which was not something that his 'previous life' was all too used to. Such a situation made sense, given the fact that he hadn't been one for all that long, but even with the knowledge of his old life, this wasn't going to be an easy task. He was going to need a bridge between his 'old' life, and this 'new' one.
The Ten Gates rune would do exactly that for him. It allowed for the manipulation of chi in all sorts of different ways, which would include the ability to use it in battle. Though it wasn't the same as the Gate rune, it was actually something that could be quite handy. Someone who used it could be stronger and faster, which would be a plus for a person who would be a fighter. However, there was also the possibility that it could work with healing properties, and have the ability to manipulate the flows of chi outside the body, such as in nature. All that Ranma could do with it would be the most basic abilities, which would be quite useful for the time being, in all honesty.
Having that rune would give him a little kick that would allow him to get over some of the troubles that might have really gotten in his way before. Since he couldn't fight armies quite that well on his own, having something that could make him quite the power house, in theory, would be a quite welcome thing. Not that he'd complain about that fact, since it would give him something useful to have when the moment where it would be needed would come up sooner or later.
However, he knew nothing of any of this, and only knew that he was going to be heading to the temple. His only hope to succeed in what he was trying to do was to get allies, and that was the best place that he could look. Of course, it was going to be the sort of place where he was going to have to look anyway, as the guys who'd come after his country were not exactly the sort of folk who were 'friendly'.
So, unaware of the situation with the rune, he sped along until he came to where he had been hoping to start his collection of allies. All that he knew was that there was supposed to be a temple there. When he came up to the temple, what he found was a:
