“Wak!” Pen-Pen complained, then wandered around the pen looking for a refrigerator. The people oohed and arhed at his feet, then scattered out of the way as he waddled around the pen all but ignoring the comparatively insignificant mortals.
“Damn it, Shinji; I wanted a merciless engine of war and destruction!”
“That would be such a shame, Demon Soryu-Langely. A Creature should be so much more; like a loyal, intelligent servant, or a cute and loveable pet.”
“Do you two have to take your roles so seriously?” Shinji asked meekly.
“I do not understand what you mean to imply, Leader Ikari.”
“Yeah, ‘Boss’, what are you talking about?”
“… Ah, forget it. What are we supposed to do now?”
“At least we know this Creature is fairly intelligent, Leader Ikari, and the tribe seems to be suitably impressed.”
“Stupid know nothing punks! They get impressed by the least thing. Pen-Pen won't stand a chance against the brutal Aztecs; nor their monstrous beast. Just look at him!”
“Creature Pen-Pen is comparatively small, but he should grow big and powerful with proper care and handling. Indeed, Creature Pen-Pen looks hungry now, Leader Ikari. We should teach him how to gather crops from the field… or to fish from the ocean.”
“Oooor are you just going to let him eat that villager!” Asuka pointed down to where Pen-Pen was inspecting a tiny person clutched between his wing tips.
“Oh, dear,” Rei muttered. “You’d better stop him quickly, Leader Ikari. We need our People; after all, we’re nothing without them.”
“Yeah, ‘Boss’! Even I have problems with him eating stupid villagers. Slap that bird silly!”
Shinji obligingly bitch-slapped the bird, who looked up at him with an expression of hurt innocence, then carefully put the tiny summoner down and waddled around the pen to express his discontent some more.
“Oh, thank you Great One!” the grateful summoner supplicated. “The legends spoke of how awe-inspiringly powerful the Creatures seemed, but I had no idea how frightening they truly were. You should leash your Creature, Oh Mighty Being, and teach him how to behave!”
“Hey now; don’t get all snitty with us, young lady,” snapped Asuka.
“She’s right though, Leader Ikari. Letting the pet run amok would be highly irresponsible on his present scale. You need to teach him proper discipline.”
“Yeah, ‘Boss’, and put that lazy bird to work for a change!”
