Rei pointed calmly. “I believe Leader Ikari that the Villager means those collars.”
Asuka repeated much more curtly. “Are you blind or something ‘Boss?’ Just use yer eyes!”
Shinji blinked, had those been there a second ago? Three collars, each one large enough to around the penguin’s neck, (complete with ‘Pen to the second power’ written on them) complete with a leash, each of them looked quite distinct: were floating right in front of them.
“Those would appear to be the Collar of Learning, the Collar of War, and the Collar of Travel, Leader Ikari.”
“Collar of War! Collar of War!” Asuka ranted, if they were stuck with this dumb bird they could at least teach him how to fight.
“And who would you have him fight Demon Soryu-Langely?” Rei asked calmly.
“Who cares? We have to get this stupid bird into shape so he’ll last long enough to move our followers somewhere else or find some new ones when we’re attacked!”
“To instill violence as Creature Pen-Pen’s base behavior would be unwise Demon Soryu-Langely, since we are not currently at war, and it seems unlikely that the Hostiles Aztecs will locate us any time soon, assuming they would even bother to look for our Followers.”
“They could attack at any time! Best to be prepared!”
“We should not waste time with a hypnotically enemy Demon Soryu-Langely.”
“That never stopped us with the Angels!”
“The Hostiles Angels were a definite threat, we do not know the Hostiles Aztecs follow the same category at this time Demon Soryu-Langely.”
Shinji got the idea they were just going to continue to argue until Hell froze over (which with their possible new infinite state they just might be able to) unless he did something, and for the sake of his ears, he had better do something. Picking out the collar Rei had pointed out as the Collar of Learning, he telekinetically placed it around Pen-Pen’s neck, and taking the leash, -which extended the further he pulled it along- and placed it next to the fishermen.
Pen-Pen, dragging his feet until he realized there was fish in them there waters, marched over into the shoreline, looking perfectly at home. Looking at the fishermen, and getting the idea, Pen-Pen plucked some fish out of the ocean, and began one by one to toss them into his beak.
Rei and Asuka finally stopped their debate of Guns Verses Butter and noticed Pen-Pen’s actions.
“A wise decision Leader Ikari.”
“Just you wait ‘Boss’ you’ll be sorry.” Asuka huffed.
Shinji noticed that Pen-Pen that wasn’t really helping the fishermen at all, just his own stomach, which Shinji could almost see getting rounder as Pen-Pen continued to gorge.
“Hey! Save some for the rest of us!” One of the fishermen snapped.
“Stupid bird.” Asuka muttered for once not telling the mortal off for complaining.
“It appears that Creature Pen-Pen is still in need of discipline Leader Ikari.”
Shinji sighed, and again slapped Pen-Pen, the bird looked at him confused, then reluctantly added the fish to the fisherman’s pile.
Shinji getting his own initiative for once: patted Pen-Pen on the head for doing the right thing. Pen-Pen looked happy at the act of approval and stuffed another fish in his mouth. Shinji sighed. This was going to take a while.
Shinji had found something out that night. First it was clear that he, his ‘consciences’ and Pen-Pen did not need sleep. Or rather that’s how it looked at the moment. Shinji had been up from dusk to dawn, slapping the stubborn Pen-Pen each time he tried to eat one of the fish he had fished out of the ocean when he had already eaten his share already and patted Pen-Pen on the head when he placed one in the fishermen’s pile. If Shinji still had a material form, his hand would be sore right now.
Finally, a hour or two after sun rise, Pen-Pen was finally getting the idea that Shinji was going to hold out as long as Pen-Pen was on this issue, and chose to drop it, and save up his stubbornness for something else later and at last went along with the program without having to be told to.
“’Bout time!” Asuka swore. For once, Rei didn’t contradict her.
At least Pen-Pen had also picked on the idea that he had to leave the villagers be, it was a question if Pen-Pen would have really eaten one, but it still wished it knew what was going on. Pen-Pen wondered if he was having a dreaming again. Of course since he was missing his solid gold throne and all the ladies were his female penguin harem, this was unlikely. From what he had heard from his ‘owners’ and the really weird blue haired girl, they had no idea where they were either. Just that they were somehow in charge of all the humans around here, wherever here was. He just hoped this was all over soon he wanted a hot bath. Maybe there were some how springs around here. However the bird didn’t get his break quite yet, at Angel Rei’s urging, Kami Shinji had Pen-Pen begin to turn the soil for the farmers. Pen-Pen was getting more exercise in the last twenty-four hours than the bird had had in a month!
In spite of him not learning how to fight, Asuka still looked rather pleased with Pen-Pen being put in his place.
