Setsuna's Fault -AW: Student Schoolgirl [Episode 169289]

Genma knew that he should be totally proud of how well his student was doing, and her truly was proud of her, but it wasn't the same as raising someone who was totally dedicated to the Art. Not that she wasn't the sort of girl that actually did enjoy the Art, and found a deep connection with it, but the thing was that he'd only been a more traditional sensei for her. At times, he wondered what it would have been like if he'd found her just after her parents had died in that plane crash, rather than at a martial arts retreat a few years later. Then maybe he could have adopted her for himself, and had his promising young student be the daughter that he'd never had.

He knew that such considerations were merely wishful thinking though, as he knew that the past couldn't be changed by any force, and certainly not by a man who didn't even have his wife anymore. All that he could do was enjoy the fact that he had someone like Makoto Kino as his student. She might have had the sort of figure that could never be mistaken for a boy's, but she did have the willingness and dedication that he had seen so little of in a lot of his male training prospects. By the time that she'd come into his life, she'd been gaining a reputation for being an able fighter in school fights, but he'd taken her talent, and tempered it into something special. Sure, she had school work and other distractions, but he'd learned to work around those sorts of issues long ago. There wasn't that 'push' to make her the 'best', after all, and he simply taught her to be the best that he could make her.

And now he had seen someone who's talent could rival hers. She might not be quite the fighter that he knew that she had the ability to be, but he was willing to admit that she was good. One major way to get better was to fight different opponents, especially the good ones, and this 'Ranma' boy was certainly skilled. If nothing else, it would be a good exercise for her, and he was certain that he could make the best of it.

Of course, she had to get there first, and when he saw the arrival of a bus, he turned to watch it and waited. That didn't take long though, as he saw a pretty girl step out of the bus within a few minutes, and immediately start looking for someone. Once she turned in his direction, her bright green eyes widened in recognition, and he gestured with one hand for her to come to him.

Nodding Makoto headed over in his direction, clearly noticing that something was up with her sensei, while:
