Now, he had been given time to take in the facts of the situation, and was able to handle himself better. He had considered his options, and understanding what was going on, he found that he'd had only one choice to make. It wasn't something that he wanted to rush into, but it was all that he could come up with. "There is only one option to follow through, so that this way we can honor the promise."
"And that is...." Nabiki murmured, giving her father a concerned look from where she sat with her sisters.
"The one who will marry Ranma will be... ME!"
"WHAT?!" came from everyone else in the room.
"It's really quite simple. With things the way that they are, we can't do anything else. Ranma-chan is a pretty girl, and, though it pains me to be with anyone else after my dear wife has passed on, the two families must be joined."
"Father, isn't that a bit... rash?" Kasumi asked, her eyes wide with shock.
The middle Tendo daughter snorted. "It's downright nuts...."
"He has to joking...." Ranma murmured to herself, putting a hand over her face as she groaned low in her throat. She had wanted to marry someone cute and nice, and even though Mister Tendo was more than likely 'cute' for a guy, he still wasn't what she had in mind at all. "I can't believe this is happenin'...."
Glancing over at the Saotome Heir, Akane felt a definite well of sympathy for the redhead. After all, she, of all people, had to understand the seeming careless nature of her father's decisions, and knew that arranged marriages were not such hot ideas a lot of the time.
Genma merely stared at his old friend, unable to figure out quite how he felt on the matter, while:
