"How can you know what it is?!" Akane demanded.
"Quite right!" Kuno barked, clearly put out himself. "No doubt the love that my dear Akane feels for me has driven her to put herself in place as my advocate!"
"Idiot! I just wanted to know if he knew weapons systems that well!"
"No doubt, he could only be so awed by the power that this weapon exudes that he couldn't help but know what it was!"
"Actually, I only had to read the name. It's written on the side," the pigtailed boy revealed, pointing a finger at the side of the 'box'.
Everyone looked, and, just as he said, the words 'ACME Missile Launcher' were written on the side in big and bold black letters.
"See?"
"No matter! I will use this weapon to destroy the evil that is you!" the wannabe samurai declared, and jabbed a button on the remote that he'd been holding.
Those standing around him tensed, with most folks showing various amounts of fear at the possibility of being hit by a rocket. They all cringed backwards, with even Ranma pulling back so as to put a little more distance between himself and the launcher. As soon as Kuno pressed a button, the missile went flying out of its tube, rocketing out at an amazing pace.
And then it hit the empty chemistry lab on the side of the school building.
That was the signal for the fact that everyone's worst fear had just been realized. The weapon was out of control, and there was only one way to handle it. So... they just dodged it as best they could as the launcher started shooting out missiles at random times and positions. Chunks of grass and dirt went flying everywhere as the landscape was blown up, and a cheer went up when a testing room went up in a blast. However, there was a lot of sad faces when the geyser of water indicated that the pool had just been wrecked. In fact, it seemed that everything except people, including Ranma, were getting hit.
"Come on now, you defective and useless hunk of metal!" Kuno barked, whapping the launcher with his bokuto. "Use one of those missiles to strike down something that deserves it!"
Unfortunately for him... his hit made the launcher point straight up towards the sky. That meant that the next missile launched went right in that direction... and came flying back down on the device when its fuel ran out. When that happened, the machine blew up, leaving Kuno burned, and covered in ash.
"Well, I'll leave you to this," Ranma drawled, heading into the school.
Akane's eyes went wide as she turned to face his retreating back. "Hey! Are you really going to leave me like this?!"
"You were the one who said that you didn't need me. And now you're gettin' ta take it on all by yourself. The jerk is all yours. Have fun," the pigtailed boy commented as he gave a lazy wave as he walked away.
Gritting her teeth, the youngest Tendo scowled mightily as she felt the frustration of the mess that she'd gotten herself into. She couldn't fix what had gone wrong, and now she was stuck back where she started, this time with a glimpse of what she could have had. It was all her fault for her failure in that arena, and for that, she was stuck in the crappy position that she was now.
"Akane, my love, you have stayed with me to make sure that I only get your loving care!" Kuno sighed.
Making a fist so tight that her knuckles cracked, she decked the kendoist, and sent him crashing to the ground. Then she raised her foot up right over him, and began a barrage of stomps that were neither gentle, nor politely placed. More than a few landed in a spot that had the jerk crawled up into a ball from the pain that she inflicted.
With a snort of disgust at him, and her own mess, she turned on her heel, and marched into the school after Ranma, while:
