Another such, in the Great Glacier, supposedly opened up into a natural ice vault where the light came down through layers of ice and lit a single wooden table. There one could supposedly hear the thoughts of the glacier itself.
The Lost Mesa was one such location, in the continent of Anchorome. The monks had found a few distant neighbors, politely inquired about the one they'd chosen, snatched the arrows out of the air, and eventually gotten an answer. No, nobody claimed it.
So the monks, priests, and farmers went to the Lost Mesa. They kicked the ghouls and ghosts off, blocked off the trails leading upwards in front of the horse-raiders and settled down for a long stay. There were some lean times while they got the farms running, but it was a self-sufficient little community with only occasional airship traffic or teleporting mages to disturb the routine.
It was a time for five-year-old Ranma to perfect skills.
