Nabiki looked at the screen, the images of the lady the Green Lantern Core was looking for, on it. When Ranma had shown her his first mission—to be done after they ... bonded—she had immediately recognized the girl as an urban legend.
After all, when you live with one, you check up on others.
As such, she was getting as much information as she could before she sent it to J'onn J'onzz, the Martian Manhunter. She figured with it, he would be able to get the required information, and perhaps eliminate the need for Ranma to go.
Though considering what he had looked like when he heard of Ryoga’s history, she doubted he would find much. Apparently, all he had on Ryoga were some old school files that had recently been computerized, and the legends pertaining to the Hibiki.
Then again, the Justice League dealt with things on a whole different level than what you typically found in Nerima. After all, what were the odds that they had ever met Hibiki?
Booster Gold stood before the elevator with Skeets, waiting for it to arrive so he could hurry up for his date.
H wasn’t expecting it to open and reveal a guy wearing a yellow shirt, stripped bandana, and holding a backpack. “Who are you?” he asked.
“Um,” said the boy in Japanese, “is this Nerima?”
The doors closed, but not quickly enough. Booster Gold slapped the call button, opening the doors before the elevator could move.
But the man was gone.
“Um Skeets, what just happened?”
“I have absolutely no clue,” admitted the little gold robot. “Better report it in.”
Nodding, Booster Gold entered the elevator, looking around for any shifts or something that could explain what had happened. “Somehow, I just know they’ll blame me for this.”
Nodding, Nabiki turned to the small bathroom that was attached to their room, listening in as Ranma took a shower. She’d be lying if she said she wasn’t nervous about this. It was a big step, and would pretty much cement her and Ranma’s relationship as something more than friends.
“Never thought this would happen when I woke up today,” she muttered.
She knew it needed to be done, otherwise she’d likely die when her powers started to leech back onto her.
Of course, she hoped it wasn’t going to be the only reason for Ranma to do such. She’d like to believe he wanted to anyway.
As she looked at the gauntlet on her arm, she had to wonder if she could really do this. She could shape shift, use shadows and ice, and even predict the future. Did that qualify her as a superhero? She knew Ranma was qualified. Sure, he might not be the brightest bulb in the ceiling, but he was still a good guy at heart.
Could she follow that path? Could she not?
Shaking her head, she disrobed and got under the covers. There was only one thing to worry about now.
“How fucking long does it take to shower?” she asked. “I swear he’s about to drain all the hot water from this place.”
No one said she wasn’t excited.
