John Stewart, the Green Lantern, was currently going through files of what the League had deemed ‘superheroes in training’. They were people growing up as superheroes, but not yet old enough to be out of school. The most notable ones were the ones being funded by Wayne Enterprises, the Titans.
But he had his eyes on some others, those who weren’t fully established.
He was looking at Static Shock and associates.
They had assisted the League on a few occasions, before the League expanded to what it was now. And with many of the threats to Dakota being eliminated when the Bang Baby Cure was distributed, the group found themselves with more free time, and less life and death struggle.
But they did still have a small group. Gear, She-bang, and Rubberband Man (when he wasn’t on tour), still were included in the group. Three of the four maintained their powers through the cure; Rubberband Man because he had been off on tour with his band, and Static and Gear because they were re-exposed.
But they still had potential. Even he could remember Static’s appearance in the former future created by Chronos. And if the kid had survived that long into that hellish future, then he surely had the stuff to eventually become a full member in the League.
“Well, the kid’s been wanting more action,” he muttered.
“OH YES!” cried out one woman on the command bridge, as she sunk to her knees.
“What the hell?” he muttered.
“I was afraid of this,” said Dr. Fate.
“Excuse me?” asked John.
“The ceremony to bond Ranma and Nabiki is quite powerful,” said the mystic. “And as such, certain ... psionic emanations are being released.”
“Why do I not like where this is going?” said John, rubbing his forehead.
“OH YES, RIGHT THERE!” screamed another girl as she fell to her knees, a giant smile on her face.
“I do believe it will only happen during the bonding process, and only to those League members with psychic talents,” offered Fate.
John looked at his friend, both with disbelief and shock.
“We tried to move those susceptible away from the area,” said Fate. “But they were ... adamant about staying.”
“I see,” said John, before he turned back to his station. He felt it was better that if he didn’t acknowledge what was happening around him, he’d be safe.
Dr. Fate merely shook his head, glad his own wife wasn’t there. “At least Ms. Tendo seems to be happy, if the ... casualties are any indication.”
