"Just what the heck is going on here?" Asuka Langley Soryu demanded to know as she stomped into the Eva hangar in her plugsuit, followed by Rei. "I had to pay the taxi driver an extra fee just so we could get here in time, and then our Eva units are gone?"
"We're not exactly gone," an even higher and squeakier voice exclaimed from her left. "We're only much cuter than before."
Asuka stared down. The strange being that had addressed her looked almost like Twinbee, but was pink instead of blue, and her cockpit/face was a dark blue and heart-shaped.
The female Ex-Eva/robotic bee extended a hand and smiled. "I'm Winbee, glad to meet you, Asuka!"
Asuka just continued to stare, so Winbee pulled her hand back after a while. "How do you know my name?" she mumbled finally.
Winbee giggled. "Why, I might be able to remember my own pilot, right? Oh, silly me... You might not recognize me, right? I am... or rather, was... your Eva unit... Unit 02!"
"But how did the Eva units just turn into these little things?" Shinji wondered.
"Hey, don't talk about us as if we weren't present," Twinbee spoke up. "And I'm glad to finally be able to speak to you... There's SO much I have to tell you."
"But not now," Winbee added. "After all, there is an Angel to destroy... Well, actually, it's not an Angel any more..."
Rei looked around the room.
"What are you looking for, wondergirl?" Asuka wanted to know.
Rei looked at her fellow pilot. "I only wonder how everyone in this room could be the target of the same hallucination."
Winbee giggled and hugged Rei's legs cutely. "Awww, but we are no hallucinations, Rei-chan..."
"There is no logical explanation for all of this except for a mass hallucination," Rei declared, ignoring the pink robot clinging to her legs.
"Aw, get in your own unit and let's go already," Twinbee impatiently shouted and jumped up and down.
Rei blinked. "My own...?"
She turned around. Sitting on the ground where Unit 00 normally was situated, was another one of the round not-quite-bee-looking robot bees. It was green and waved around a rattle.
"Ga ga goo goo!"
Twinbee snickered. "Looks like you're stuck with the baby, Rei!"
"All right, tell us what's going on, now!" Asuka was really angry now and wanted to grab Twinbee to lift him off the floor.
The blue little space-bee dodged. "Whoa whoa, calm down there! If you activate my system, you might end up in a situation you don't like."
"What do you mean?" Shinji asked confused.
"I mean that I'm a male unit, while Winbee is a female unit... and that will be reflected upon our pilot."
Asuka gulped. "You mean if I would've touched you... I would have become a... boy?"
"Not touched, activated," Winbee explained. "To use us in combat, you have to touch our cockpit face."
Rei didn't say anything and walked up to Gwinbee.
"What are you doing, Rei?" Shinji asked.
"I'm going to prove that all of this is nothing but a silly dream caused by some sort of chemical weapon from the Angel..." She bowed down to touch the green bee.
"Ga goo goo?" it asked in a curious voice and looked up.
Suddenly, a bright light surrounded Rei. But it vanished as quickly as it had appeared. Only it left Rei in a slightly altered state.
"Goo goo ga ga?" the green bee asked curiously.
Baby Rei, now dressed in a miniature version of her plugsuit (complete with diaper) responded: "Ga goo goo ga!"
"Wondergirl!" Asuka gasped. "What the heck happened to you?"
"She touched Gwinbee," Winbee smiled. "And as Gwinbee is a baby unit..."
"...she became a baby herself," Twinbee finished the sentence with a grin.
Shinji looked down at the adorable little girl that looked up at him with big eyes.
"Thith ith no hathullanination..." she lisped in a cute voice.
"So she can talk?" Asuka asked.
"Sure," Winbee replied. "She can speak Gwinbee's baby language and normal Japanese. Don't worry, she'll still be able to operate Gwinbee."
Rei waved at Shinji with her tiny hands. Shinji knelt down to her. "What's wrong, Rei?"
Rei blushed. "Pilot Ikari, I think my diaper needth to be changed..."
