Thunder Ken: Looming Thunder [Episode 175678]

by Kestral

Ranma knew something was wrong from the noise at first. Fights that should NOT be going on, and Makoto's kiai were not welcome for a friendly little training exercise.

His immediate thought was a yoma or other such, the idea of those opponents being what they were gathered to train against, and therefore he was responding in a manner fit for THAT sort of enemy and not a martial artist rival. He would have thought of rivals and such first if he'd been back home most likely. So he wouldn't find a place unobserved, lift his short wooden staff, and bring it down like so - at least not until he'd had the measure of the opponent.

CHOOM!

Now the redhaired god of thunder stood and strode through the forest as if he owned it. He remained aware of his surroundings, searching for the yoma.

SCHIIING!

A samurai who looked as if he'd just stepped out of some epic film stepped out from behind a tree, drawing his sword in a slow motion.

"Knave, dost thou threaten mine friends?" asked Thor in what he was trying for as a menacing tone, and which came out almost like a growl. "Thou mighst just want to reconsider thy course of action."

Silently the samurai shifted the blade out and to the side and began running forward. Apparently not intimidated by the size difference between himself and the target.

The blade swept in a perfect arc, aiming for a part of Thor's leg.

K-CRACK!

Mjolnir blocked and Thor's fingers grabbed the shorter fellow by the neck and lifted him up. The samurai's sword fell, cracked off near the crosspiece.

"Now, methinks thou might want to begin speaking," said Thor reasonably. His eyes widened slightly as he saw the sword melt away and reform in the samurai's hand.

CRUNCH!

The samurai shimmered in his grasp as he grasped the sword-wielding arm and crushed it. A moment later, a paper doll fluttered to the ground.

Thor's eyes seemed to cloud over, as looming storm clouds. He didn't even notice the clouds gathering overhead. "What manner of ettinry is this?"

People set up rivalries, often without trying, simply by being the best in a particular field.

Rei Hino was an exceptional miko or shrine-maiden. Naturally she had a rival. Also naturally, this rival was not entirely playing with a full deck.

A training trip had been interrupted by first one set of rivals (Ranma's) out for revenge, and now another rival (Rei's) had further mixed things up.

Naturally, the situation continued to degrade.

"They found me," said the yoma, seeing a glimpse of sailor suits. "Well, they'll learn I'm a lot stronger than I was. I'll get them before they can get me!"
