Makoto was asleep in her tree, and was not going to be available. Since she required a guard as she was relatively helpless in this state, Ranma immediately volunteered.
He was shot down, but he HAD tried.
Shopping. One of the banes of male existence. He was a little surprised that Mister Tendo hadn't supported him, but had thrown him to the (figurative) wolves.
Kimiko, on the other hand, was soon able to get a few ideas about the dietary requirements of each of those not-completely-human individuals.
Haruka, the Cheetaun who was apparently bonding quite well with Akane - was a carnivore as her fangs and other animorphic parts indicated. She hated leeks and didn't care much for other vegetables.
Michiru, the Siren who apparently seemed to draw Nabiki into an appreciation for the arts, had problems with red meat but liked seafood.
Ami, the Nerdette, could eat any human style food and was a wealth of information about the others. Michiru's dislike of red meat, for example, was due to an enzyme insufficiency that caused food poisoning symptoms if she ate foods with certain proteins.
Talking to Minako the Kitten turned up that she was like Haruka in that she was primarily a carnivore. She also liked chicken. She didn't care for vegetables for that much. And she really liked chicken. She didn't have any problem with rice, as long as it had something with it that was meat-based. Did she mention that she liked chicken? Oh, and apparently she had some sort of problem with catnip but she wasn't sure what it was as the last time she had gotten ahold of some she had apparently blacked out and nobody was telling her what had happened. Chicken was on that grocery list, wasn't it?
Usagi was a vegetarian. A large amount eater, particularly if she'd been using her abilities - which apparently burned calories. Kimiko wasn't sure what a Megami was, but apparently it had something to do with magic.
Rei the Firebrand had a tail and ears and fangs similar to a fox. Kimiko was not at all surprised to learn that she was primarily a carnivore herself, though apparently close enough to human that she could go for long periods with only rice and vegetables and fruits. Mentioning the inclusion of chicken on the grocery list, Kimiko duly noted the glazed eyes and little line of drool. Best not to leave just one piece of chicken on the table, it MIGHT get messy.
Setsuna was the one who volunteered to watch over Makoto. She was fine with human foods, though she did make a request that there be tea. And, oddly enough, to avoid the markets on Shiguma Street.
Hotaru was mainly vegetarian. Unlike Usagi who merely preferred not to eat meat, apparently meat disagreed with the Angel who had a delicate digestion.
Ranma merely sulked a lot, practically being dragged off on this shopping expedition with his pokegirls and Nabiki and Akane.
