Shinji's new day: Dear friend Asuka... [Episode 176684]

by Shritistrang

SLAM!

Shinji cringed as he heard the all-too-familiar door-slamming, trademark of Asuka.

"Hey, Asuka," he said as the redhead came storming into the room. "What's up?"

"Don't you start going on my nerves, baka-Shinji, I've had one hell of a day!"

Somehow, a small voice told Shinji it would be wiser to stay quiet, but he asked her anyway: "Why? What happened?"

"You want to know what happened? I'll tell you what happened! Your dear 'friends' acted like total perverts in front of me. Always staring at me, peeking at my skirt when I'm picking something up from the ground... Well, no wonder, with a friend like you!"

Shinji was a very shy boy, really... But somehow, when he heard Asuka talking down on him, something within him began to fume.

"And just look at this dump! You've been home for how long now? Two hours? Couldn't you have put those dirty dishes away? Or do you believe Misato and I can do all the housework just because we're women?"

"Um, Asuka... it was Misato's turn today, remember?"

"Oh yeah, that's just like you: Finding a dumb excuse just to get around doing some work. I swear it, you boys are all the same!"

By now, Shinji was inwardly gritting his teeth. He could see Asuka had a bad day, and it wasn't the first time she was bitching like this... but somehow, he wished she would shut up for a while...

Just then, the enlightenment came: The book! Perhaps there was a spell somewhere inside that he could use...

"Hey, quit reading that book when I'm talking to you," Asuka yelled. "Did you listen to me?"

Shinji then nodded and closed the book. "Asuka... would you look into my eyes, please?"

"What? What are you... talking... about...?"

Shinji stared deeply into the redheads eyes, concentrating. Somehow, Asuka had trouble looking elsewhere.

"Shinji..." she murmured. "What's... what's wrong with your eyes? You should... really... go and see... an oculist..."

Then Shinji spoke: "Banbaladar... my friend you are!"

Asuka blinked multiple times, then she shook her head. "Oh... I'm sorry, Shinji... I must have zoned out there for a moment. Uuuuh... What were we talking about?"

Shinji grinned. "Didn't you just want to offer me to do the dishes?"

Asuka gasped. "OH! That's right, I totally forgot! I'm so sorry, dear Shinji... I'll do it right away. It's not like I want YOU to do it." She smiled at him affectionately.

Shinji tried hard not to laugh. True, it kinda was like he had brainwashed her... but the spell would only last for a few hours anyway. But during that time, Asuka would see Shinji as her dearest friend and would do anything possible to make his life easier. Quite an improvement over her constant nagging...

Shinji leaned back in his chair while Asuka took all of the dirty dishes and went to put them into the dishwasher.

"Um, Asuka... don't you wanna wash them by hand?"

"Oh, good idea! Thank you, Shinji-kun!"

"And after you're ready, please be a dear and tidy up our rooms, okay?"

She smiled at him. "Anything for you, Shinji!"

Shinji grinned. He really could get used to that.

Then he realized something... the book didn't say anything if Asuka will remember anything of all this...

'Well, too late to change my mind now, huh?' he thought.
