While watching Asuka doing the housework, Shinji read more in his book. Most of the spells were interesting, but he preferred not to do some of them... As some of them were clearly dark in nature. A spell that makes a person die a slow and painful death? He shuddered. That's not something he wants to try out.
Luckily, all those 'evil' spells seemed to be marked as 'borbaradian' spells... whatever that may mean. Also, he found a big number of spells that were called 'imp' spells... Most of them spells that are ideal for playing little pranks on people.
He decided to try out one of those, perhaps another controlling spell... But who should he use as a guinea pig to test it? Asuka again?
Just then, the front door opened and Misato's voice called: "I'm home!"
When she entered the apartment, Asuka came walking past her, carrying a big bag with clothes. She smiled when seeing Misato. "Hello, Misato! How was your day?"
"Um... good... Asuka, what are you doing with the laundry?"
Asuka giggled. "Why, I'm going to put it into the washing machine, of course. So much to do... But we can't let poor Shinji do everything, right?"
Misato sweat-dropped. Something was definitely not right here. "Asuka... are you sick?" And she instantly felt the younger girl's head.
"Sheesh, Misato... Can't a girl just help her best friend in the world? I'm just trying to help out, really!"
Misato pulled back her hand and nodded. "Um, sure... I'll just... let you do the laundry, okay?"
Asuka smiled. "Sure!" And she continued her way to the washing machine.
Shinji hid the book under the table when Misato entered the kitchen. "Hi, Misato!" He grinned sheepishly.
Misato looked at him. "All right, out with it: What did you do to poor Asuka?"
"Me?" Shinji tried looking perfectly innocent. "I didn't do anything... Asuka just wanted to help me, all of a sudden. I don't know what has come over her. After all, what's so bad about her just doing a few little chores for me?"
Misato didn't buy it. "A few little chores?" She looked over into Shinji's room, where Asuka was busy dusting off every single furniture. "Looks to me like she's cleaning the entire apartment."
"Well, if she likes to help others..."
Misato frowned. "Helping others? Shinji, don't make me laugh! This is ASUKA we're talking about... When did she ever act like this?"
She shook her head. "Never mind... I just want to have a nice evening after a busy day at work..." And she went into her bedroom.
Shinji looked after her, then he took his book and looked at a certain page. What did she say? 'Don't make me laugh'? He grinned. Well, perhaps he should do something like it...
And according to this book, the spell called 'Fit of Laughter' hasn't even an incantation... he just had to grin into his 'victim's' face.
Shortly after, Misato came out of her room, now dressed more casually. "Is there any beer left in the fridge?" she mumbled. Then she grinned. Stupid question... there ALWAYS was some beer left within this household.
But when she looked into the fridge, she gasped. "The beer? What happened to my precious beer? NOOOOO! It's all gone!! WHY???"
What she didn't know was that Penpen had hidden all of the beer cans under her bed, where he was sitting right now, drinking one can after another... just in case Shinji wanted to take it all away from him.
She turned around and fumed. "I've been robbed! Scandal! Call the police!"
"Misato..."
"What?"
She turned around and saw Shinji, who was grinning at her. "Why don't you just... laugh it off?"
For a second, nothing happened. But then, Misato snorted and began giggling with laughter.
"Teeheehee... Oh no, all of the beer is gone... Heeheehee... what am I gonna do now?" Wide grin. (snort) "Bwahahahaha!"
Shinji had to laugh himself as he saw his guardian stagger around the room, grinning madly and laughing all the while. Well, that was a good spell to loosen her up a little.
Asuka came into the room, carrying the bag with the now clean laundry. "Shinji... what's wrong with Misato?"
Misato grinned, pointed at Asuka and said: "Hahahahaha! Asuka, doing the laundry by herself... oh, that's too funny..." Giggle. Snort. More laughter.
Shinji shrugged. "Oh, I think it's just something funny I said..." He then looked up at Asuka with a grin. "By the way, when you're finished with the laundry, would you please cook dinner?"
For a while, it seemed like Asuka was going to do it, but then, a confused look came to her face. She shook her head and threw Shinji an angry glare. "Why should I do ANYTHING for you, Shinji-baka? Cook your dinner yourself, I'm not your slave!" Then her gaze fell onto the bag of laundry she was carrying. "Wait a minute... what am I doing?"
She dropped the bag and looked like she was ready to freak out. "I... Why did I... Why did I do all those things?"
Shinji smiled at her nervously. "Um... because you really wanted to help me?"
"Me? Help you?? GET REAL!!" She angrily yelled and stomped right into her room.
Shinji sighed. Seems like the friendship spell already wore off... Oh well, it had been fun while it lasted. He looked at the laundry bag and sighed again. Well, now he had to do the rest by himself, right?
Misato grinned into the direction where Asuka had vanished and giggled. "Now... now wasn't that funny? Teeheeheehee BWAHAHAHAHAHAAAAAH!!"
Just then, the phone rang. Shinji wanted to answer it, but Misato was faster. She tried very hard to suppress her laughter.
"Ka... Katsu... (snort, giggle) Katsuragi? Teehee..."
Ritsuko's voice came from the other end of the line. "Misato? Well, don't you sound amused... I just hope it's not because you got to leave early while I'm still stuck here. Listen, the commander just wanted me to remind you to come earlier tomorrow. Okay?"
"Sure..." Misato giggled. "That's... teeheehee... okay with me... BWAHAHAHAHAH!"
Shinji could almost see Dr. Akagi sweatdrop at the other end of the line. "Misato, are you all right? Or did you drink too much beer?"
"Hahahaha, no, actually, aaaallll of my beer cans have vanished... isn't that funny? (snort, chuckle) WHAAAHAHAHAHAHA!"
Shinji chuckled nervously himself. How was he going to explain that to the doctor?
