"Never mind about school, My Boy!" Genma slapped Ranma hard on the back that he was sent moving towards the gate, Nabiki still holding onto the pigtailed boy's arm.
"You don't go to school, anyway. And, technically, there's no law in Japan that says we have to go to high school."
"B, bu, but... ."
Nabiki didn't pull the reluctant suitor as propelled him; but she did it so gently, he didn't resist.
"Bye! Have a good date! Make your father proud of you, Ranma!" Genma waved them off. When they were out of sight, he said, with expanded chest, "That's My Son! He's a ladies' man, today. Now for Soun and I to follow, and see that the date is a success!"
He hurried into the house.
Only to find that his Dear Friend wasn't there. "Father won a contest from a bar in the next town. It's odd, though. We don't know how his name became entered. I can give you the address of the drinking establishment, if you'd like, Mr. Saotome?" Kasumi offered.
Nabiki was nearly splashed by a woman sloshing about a ladle carelessly, but Ranma pulled her away in time. "My hero."
"It's just that I don't like water, that's all," he blushed modestly.
They began on their way to their date. "My Daddy has told us very little about you, or your dad, Ranma. We do know you've been to China recently."
"Well, yeah. I have. I'm sorry we did. You see, uh -rrngh," he struggled to say what he knew had to be said.
"If it bothers you, don't say it. When the time is right."
"Thank you."
"I'm afraid I haven't kept up in my martial arts training."
"That's okay. One serious martial artist in the family's enough." He blushed, again. "That is, if we do become a, well... ."
"I'm very good at accounting, managing money, and investing."
"That's the job of a Japanese wife. Aa! I'm sorry! I can't seem to get it off of my mind!"
"You did come to our home to be engaged," she forgave him.
Ranma could almost become relaxed around her, now, if she wouldn't keep copping feels of his muscles as she hung off of him. Finally, in another awkward silence, during which her hand moved too close to his butt, he blurted out, "Are you one a those boy-crazy girls, Pop warned me about?"
"I'd rather be crazy for just one boy."
