Ranma's New Day - Sailor Sagittarius A*0-1!: A*0-1 Dreams - Dreaming Of 'Rana' [Episode 177791]

by Linnara

Isn't it about time you decided who you were, Ran-chan?

If that were only so easy...

And then the Dream shifts, and A*0-1 is alone.

Among the starry skies...

"Rana-chan, Rana-chan, is that really you? I was beginning to think that you weren't coming this Turning..."

"As if I would ever miss coming here if I was even near the System, Lady Barrett!" 'Rana' smiled at the general direction at the com unit, as her spaceship, the 'Going Merry' received the docking codes to Lady Barrett's Orbital Castle. She patted the Main Controls of her ship affectionately - it had been very much a second-hand ship by the time she got her hands on it, but it still was one of the best buys she had ever made - it had had strangely good 'vibes' for a ex-pirate ship, which was what had drawn her attention to it in the first place. That had puzzled her a bit, till further examination of certain things under the prod of boredom led her to the conclusion that the 'pirates' that had crewed it originally had been more like some kind of adventurer/explorer/free-trader/merc combo then bona fide pirates, and had apparently never, ever used the ship to carry slaves or the equivalent. Hell, they hadn't even made a habit of torture or killing, apparently, or not on the ship, anyhow.

Though as for the reason such upright - by that social strata's standards - folk had apparently ended up with such a massive price on their collective heads in certain quarters... Ahh, well. The universe could be a strange place, that was to be sure.

Stranger then most people thought, anyhow...

Nokia was a very nice Star System, all things considered. 4 major planets, 1 Lifebearing, 2 others with artificial Life Systems. Strong enough to defend it's resources, peaceful enough not to waste them in senseless conflict, and all over a rather nice place to live in.

And it didn't hurt that it was right on top of what passed for a trade route in this not-very-well-populated-at-all part of the Galaxy, either, in 'Rana''s opinion.

'Rana', hah. She'd been 'Rana the Small-Time Trader/Message and Parcel Deliverer' for so long that she'd almost forgotten the name she was born with - she actually had forgotten it, a number of centuries back, and it had taken her quite a bit of memory-searching before she managed to get it back, so nowadays she did try to remind herself periodically of that name. 'Nike', right.

'Rana' was supposed to be a minor Senshi from some System call Ranka in the boondocks (which actually did exist, by the way), who made her living as some kind of small-time trader and private postal service combo, periodically going home to her Home System with her earnings and news, to report to her Princess. She was a familar face to the Senshi and other long-lived folk in the region by this time, known to be somebody who was reasonably trustworthy - she hoped - but not safe to try to con, in any shape or fashion. Most of the Senshi she met simply assumed she was also some kind of spy/info-gatherer for her Princess, of course, but as it wasn't like she usually carried 'sensitive' stuff in any shape or form, that didn't really make much difference to her every-day business.

The planet called Barrett was one of the four major planets of the Nokia System, and the only one which didn't have either a natural or artificial Life System of it's own. Granted, it was on the outskirts of the System, and it's orbit wasn't the best when one considered the costs of putting in and maintaining an artificial Life System, but -

Ahh, well. 'Rana' sighed, putting it out of her mind. It wasn't like it was even her System, anyway...
