Curiously, Dr. Akagi looked at the document Misato had just dropped.
She frowned when she noticed a picture that showed the image of a strange and creepy monster in the rough shape of a human, with sharp talons, a violet skin and a monstrous face.
"What the heck is that?" Ritsuko murmured. She'd never looked at all of the post-impact files, and this one was definitely new. On another picture, she saw a blonde girl dressed in a weird fuku, who seemed to fight some of those monsters.
"If those are from 1998, those can't be Angels or something like that," she pondered. "Adam appeared in 2000... resulting in the Second Impact. So what are those monsters, and what are those girls doing?"
She couldn't get much information from the paper she had picked up, only that those fuku-clad girls were known as 'Senshi' to the residents of Tokyo at that time...
"But why doesn't anybody know about them?" she wondered. "They are stored within our archives... yet I, as head scientist, know nothing of them. What's going on here?"
She then thought about it. "I wonder if I should inform Commander Ikari..." She sighed. "Misato, you really give me a headache sometimes... Perhaps I should just go over to her apartment and ask her..."
----
"I'm back!" Misato called as she entered the apartment.
She then saw the upset expression on Asuka's face and the big bump on Shinji's head. "Did something happen?"
Asuka snarled. "That baka just made me mute, that's what happened!"
"Hey, it was an accident... And besides, you asked me to silence Rei."
"Well, yeah, but I never told you to silence the whole room, did I? Thank goodness that it wore off..."
Misato groaned. "Kids, please... We really don't have time for this."
Rei stared out of her kitty crate. "Major Katsuragi, what did the commander say?"
"Rei, didn't you listen? I didn't talk to the commander! I just fetched some important documents."
Rei glared at her. "I'm not coming with you. Besides, time travel isn't possible... We need Dr. Akagi to treat my mutation right away, so please let me out of here!"
"Rei, don't you still get it?" Shinji asked. "It was a magic spell! I accidentally turned you into a cat!"
"That's not possible, Shinji-kun!"
"Enough of this," Misato snapped. "Shinji, did you prepare the pentacle?" She shook her head. "I can't believe I'm asking this..."
"Yes, it's ready," Shinji nodded. "We need to gather around it's center and I have to phrase the spell... Then we have to concentrate on the exact date we want to reach... which year is it, Misato?"
Misato looked it up in her documents. "April 1996 is the year a Mau was first sighted in Tokyo... shortly after, a second one appeared as well. In 1998, at least three Maus have been sighted by the police."
"Well, shouldn't we go for 1998, then?" Asuka asked. "When there are more of 'em, the chance we'll run into one will be bigger, right?"
"Right..." Misato nodded. "Although we have to be careful... This report says that there have been sightings of creature known as Lemures in that year... We have to be careful, we don't know anything about them and those Sailor Senshi, and we also don't have any weapons." She chuckled slightly. "It's not like we could take one of the Eva units with us, huh?"
"Actually, that's not a problem," Shinji said with a grin. "I already came up with a plan in case something like that would happen..."
"Great, we once again have to trust Mr. Magic Shinji's hocus pocus abilities..." Asuka groaned. "Let's get this over with..." She picked up Rei's crate and put her down into the pentacle, then she sat down herself.
"Pilot Soryu, this is ridiculous... Just how long do you plan to continue with this foolish act?"
"Shut up and wait, wondercat!"
Misato and Shinji sat down as well, and Shinji took the book.
"I call upon you, thirteen-horned Satinav, on your powers and those of the boat of time... I call upon the powers of Amazeroth and of his henchmen Qok-Maloth, the Sorcery, and Xamanoth, the Forbidden Knowledge... I call upon the left hand Uridabash, the right hand Beel-Ymash and the eye Mhek'Thagor! Hear us, powers of space and time... Open a pathway through the limbus of ages and grant us access to the flow of time!"
While Shinji was reading those words, a gleaming maelstrom of energy had appeared in the middle of the pentacle and twirled around rapidly. Asuka yelped, Misato let out a gasp, and Rei simply murmured: "This isn't happening... This can't happening!"
The young mage then made a commanding gesture! "Open the Gates of Time! CHRONOAUTOS TIME AND SPACE - BACK IN TIME, TO ANOTHER PLACE!"
And suddenly, the magic swirl expanded and sucked the occupants of the room within... Screaming loudly, Shinji, Asuka, Misato and Rei were being pulled down into the vortex of time...
And then... they were gone!
The magic whirlwind disappeared, and all of the items that had been flying around the room fell down to the ground.
Penpen looked out of the bedroom. "Wark?"
----
Somewhere, outside of time and space...
At the Gates of Time, Sailor Pluto let out a gasp. "Something just happened..." she whispered. "Something that will alter the timeline tremendously... if I don't do anything about it."
She concentrated on her Garnet Orb. "But that's strange..." she murmured. "A reaction like this... could only be caused by a..." She let out a gasp, followed by a groan.
"Time Travel! It has to be a f*cking Time Travel!"
----
"Misato, are you there? I'm coming in!"
After turning around her spare key, Ritsuko Akagi entered the apartment. "Hello? Anybody home?"
Penpen looked out of the bedroom again. "Wark!"
Ritsuko was stunned when she saw the chaos the magical vortex had caused within the small apartment room.
"Oh my... What...? What on Earth happened here?"
She then looked around. "And where can Misato and the kids be?" she murmured.
