Setsuna's Fault: More Trekking [Episode 178991]

Spock decided to add his two credits, bringing up a display of a star system. "The ambassador is from the system Takahashi Alpha, which is unusual in that it has three M-Class planets."

"Three?" asked Doctor McCoy.

"Takahashi has a gas giant which is close in as far as the orbit to their sun, all three worlds orbit the gas giant but are sized more typically for true planets," answered Spock. "Also unusual are the technological levels. Takahashi IIIC is feudal level, IIIB is equivelant to Earth at the beginning of the Information Age, and IIIA is the most technologically advanced. Each apparently has set upon a system of limited interaction, despite being in orbit around the same gas giant."

"What of the inhabitants?" asked Kirk.

"99% conforming to Human type, though the varieties on each world is slightly different," said Spock, bringing up different screens. "IIIA, alias Ohnii, has a near human with a culture vaguely similar to that of Klingon - though their aggression mainly seems to be chanelled into elaborate sporting events including something akin to the game of Tag."

"Horns?" asked Kirk, spotting their presence. "Well, that one looks kind of like a Klingon. Wasn't he in the background during that event in Organia? No, I'd have noticed horns."

"Yes, Captain," said Spock, going on to the next group. "IIIB is also known as Naireema, which has humans with some psionic capability particularly in the upper class of that planet. IIIC is known as Sengoku and apparently slides in and out of dimensional phase regularly."

"It does what?" asked Kirk, still feeling a little odd. As if there were details he could almost remember.

"Slides in and out of dimensional phase," said Spock, bringing up pictures showing the planet/moon fading in and out. "The gravitational field does not change, therefore the planet is still there, but out of phase with the rest of our universe."

"Ah, that explains the interest," said the Captain, nodding.

"Not entirely," said Spock, going back to 'Naireema'. "The psionic abilities of Naireema are not telekinetic, telepathic, nor precognitive, but instead deal with an internal energy form whose manipulation appears to be highly individualistic."

"Psionics, dimensionally phasing planets, and a possible relative of Klingon species," said the Captain. "So this ambassador is from which planet?"

"Naireema, one of the twelve ruling families," said Lieutenant Sulu.

"Mister Sulu? You're familiar with the ambassador?" asked the Captain, pleasantly surprised.

"Yes, sir, stories about him have been floating about since we received word of this assignment," said Sulu. "He's apparently quite interested in this posting because among other things - it allows him to escape some problem with women from some of the other families."

Captain Kirk blinked at that. "I see..."

"So what can you tell me about this Federation ship?" asked Ranma.

Hotaru stopped swinging her legs back and forth as she sat on the table. "Why ask me? I'm your ninja, not an information officer."

"True, but you do keep tabs on things, and..." Ranma wasn't quite sure how to put it. "Doesn't it seem like the others were acting a little strange?"

"Well, yes, now that you mention it," said Hotaru.
