If someone told you Ranma was a happy camper, they lied. Ranma was miserable. She was cold, she was wet, and if not for her strange new Keeper senses, she'd be almost blind in the darkness of the Underworld. Even then, it still did not make up for her mortal sight because a freaky, top down radar sense just did not make up for your own eyes, especially then it came to spotting...
SPLASH!
...Obstacles.
Ranma growled as she pulled herself to her feet. What was worst though, was the smug figure standing besides her, about the only thing she could see, the Horned Reaper, or rather his mirthful glowing eyes.
"Watch out for that first step," he chuckled with dark amusement.
"Fuck you," Ranma growled as she instinctively crossed her arms for warmth, a futile gesture when one was up to ones waist in ice cold water.
"No need to get testy," the Reaper mused mirthfully.
Ranma glared at her servant. "Its cold, its wet, I'm hungry, I can't see more than a meter in front of my face, and really I don't even know what the hell we're looking for!"
"A Portal..." Horny reminded.
"What the hell does a Portal look like then?" Ranma growled in response.
Horny glared at her. "If you don't wish to continue, then you can go back to the dungeon."
Ranma blinked. "You wouldn't mind?"
He snorted in response. "I've been locked up in that pit for only the Dark Gods know how long. I'm just happy to be able to walk about. If I have to keep an eye out for a Portal, so be it. Maybe I'll be lucky and find something that I can kill."
"Horny..." Ranma warned
The Reaper snorted at being called by his ridiculous nickname. "Well, with you around I won't have to worry about my Keeper nagging at me like a bitchy wife."
Ranma sneered at the unveiled attack on her temporarily displaced masculinity. "Yeah, whatever, Horny. I'll go with you as far as the next bend, but if I don't see anything I'm heading back."
"Fine."
"And if you kill anything, you better have damned good reason. I don't want you just killin' things and pissin' someone off at me 'cause you don't know how to behave yourself."
"Fine," the Reaper repeated with a snarl.
Ranma crossed her arms and glared at the demon. "And I mean what I'd say is a good reason. Knowin' you, breathin' hard in yer general direction is a good reason to kill somethin'."
Horny growled deeply and indignantly stormed off, with Ranma close behind.
After a moments walking, Ranma glanced back to the aggravated demon.
"So," she asked, "What do these Portal things look like anyways?"
As they turned the bend, in the distance, about forty or so meters in front of them they saw a dull glow arising from an odd formation... four pillars of rough crystal forming a square around a jagged hole that plunged down into the darkness.
"Like that," Horny laughed.
Ranma walked up to it and looked down the hole. "How far down does that go?"
"It's a Portal, its magic." Horny replied, "It does not go down as much as you jump in, get transported to another Portal, then climb out."
Ranma blinked. "Oh. So what now?"
"You have the imps dig through the walls to get here and claim it so we can get the hell out of here!"
