Ranma Saotome-Tendo stood before the Temple, wondering how he should enter it. After all, he didn’t know for certain whether or not the Norns existed in this world, let alone they were staying here.
“You going to go in or not?”
Ranma cringed a bit, knowing that voice all too well. “Hello, Hild.”
The tanned beauty smirked, her form that of the younger self, the part she split off before she returned to Hell. “Two Ranma Saotomes living on this world. Why, the chaos you’ll end up creating together...” she dropped off, shivering a bit, a smile on her face.
Ranma just chuckled nervously. “I figured you of all people would be happy.”
“So what brings you here?” asked Hild. “I know about your recent ... work with Section 19.”
“Nothing you need to worry about, Hild,” said Ranma, his smirk back into place. “After all, they’ll be more active with the guys way below your levels.”
“Oh, perhaps,” said Hild. “But if that were entirely true, you wouldn’t be here trying to visit my daughters, now would you?”
“Just ensuring any and all local deities know what I am up to,” said Ranma. “After all, I don’t need some crazy insane God or Demon out to get me because they think I’m after them or their position.”
“I see,” said Hild, still smiling. “Anything else?”
“What’s going on out here?” yelled a young voice, before the doors to the shrine opened, revealing a young girl, a type of mallet strapped to her back, a small robot with blinking eyes, and a tanned beauty.
“Well, this is awkward,” said Ranma. “Is it okay if we all go inside and talk?”
“Welcome,” said Nabiki, as she bowed before the Senshi, “ and welcome to Section 19.”
“I’m only here under protest,” said Rei.
“Whatever,” waved off Nabiki, further infuriating the shrine priestess. “Come this way, and we’ll begin explaining your contracts.”
“We get paid?” asked Minako.
“Minako,” hissed Rei.
“Yes, you get paid,” said Nabiki. “Japan takes care of its trouble-shooting population. Already, Section 19 has had several requests for training and help from several other nations for assistance with paranormal and abnormal problems and issues.”
“What’s our pay?” asked Minako, ignoring her friends.
“Yes, you get paid.”
“Cool,” said Minako, already making plans for what to buy with her new job.
“We also provide training, counseling—”
“Counseling?” asked Ami.
“Well, it is for future job training, other areas of what we do, or if you have something ... bad ... happen while working,” said Nabiki. “Trust me, you never know when a sex demon will pop out.”
Several of the girls shivered at that.
“Your brochure said we also have the options of higher education grants,” said Mamoru.
Nabiki nodded. “We have a program set up through Tokyo University right now, and several accredited teachers. Even with college courses, it can be hard to balance both the job and the education.”
The others nodded. It would be nice to have others work around their schedules.
“I still don’t trust them,” said Rei.
“Whatever,” said Haruka, passing some people working on what looked like a high-tech motorcycle.
