It wasn't as if he didn't know this was supposed to happen.
...But ...But...
The sopping wet girl in front of him grinned, rakishly.
"Wha? I thought you'd said you read the manga, 'Big Bro'..."
Red bouncing hair, cute bouncing figure, and that face. So that was what 'Ranko' looked like from the outside - oh, it wasn't like he hadn't seen himself in the mirror in female form and such, but this...was different, for some reason.
No wonder all those Yatai people and such kept giving 'Ranko-chan' extra eats...
" - I - did. But - " Seeing it in the manga had been nerve wracking enough, but - still, that was still just a manga. Paper and lines. But this - "Seeing it is...different." And seeing it from the outside, even more so.
"Oh, I bet it is. - It's damn 'different' on this side too - though you should know that if anybody does, I suppose..."
Ranma sighed, then.
"So just why does your female form end up looking like mine, anyhow? I didn't get it when I saw it in the manga and I don't get it now. Shouldn't it look more like...Rei or something? Or your mom?"
"Oh, I don't know either, but Nabiki-san thinks it has something to do with part of your 'soul' being in mine and part of my 'soul' being in yours, or both of them being connected, or whatever it's really like now. Nabiki-san still remembers what really happened, by the way, though everybody else doesn't realize anything has changed - they all think this was how things always were, you know..."
Oh, good. Ranma hadn't even thought about the possibility of Nabiki not being able to remember what had really happened any more, but now that he thought about it...
Uh.
"That's great. Uh - um...you sound a bit different, like that..."
"Yeah, yeah. I feel a bit different, too. It's not really like multiple personalities since there's only one of me, and I remember everything I do, but...yeah. It's different."
"More different then me - I mean male-me - and 'Ranko'?"
Shinji-as'Ranko' groaned. "It's not like I would know, right? I can't read your mind, you know...but, um, probably. I keep thinking about chocolate parfaits and stuff, for some reason, and well...I..."
Ranma sighed. He could guess the rest. "You like to fight like that. Don't ya."
'Ranko' looked a bit embarrassed. "Yeee..s. I mean, I've only done it twice up to now, but..."
Two fights in one day - well, that was a slow and quiet day, for Ranma at least...
"But I'm sort of good at it, I think. ...Well. Not as good as you, probably, but..."
Ranma stared. Well, the Shinji in the manga had at least known how to stage a getaway even in 'regular' male form, and had actually been quite tough in girl-form, that much he had known, but...
Had he gotten some of the 'Ranko' skills in girl-form, as well as the 'Ranko' shape?
"Say, Ranma? You did get to read at least some of the 'Shinji 1/2' manga, right? I tried to watch the Eva series with you in it, but that Ryouga fellow came crashing through the window again, and then there was that Shampoo girl and... Oh, well. I barely got to see the first ep, I'm afraid..."
The girl grinned, winsomely. Oy, yoy...
Ranma sighed, then. Him and girls, girls and him. It didn't even seem to matter if the girl in question was actually a boy, either.
He was wishing he hadn't made fun of Ryouga in his girl-form quite so much, frankly...
