Except that Michiru got out her harp and began playing. As a Siren, one of her talents was for empathy. She could sense and to some degree project, and while she couldn't do a whole lot with a human crowd - she could still manage some Calm.
Usagi listened, and the marks on her face and forehead seemed to shimmer in the light. The effect rippled and spread across the shopping plaza.
Calming, relaxing, gentle - the waves spread out and touched receptive ears. Stress dropped away and the sense of hurry and hustle common to those with strict schedules seemed to ease its burden on those minds.
"So they're staying with you?" asked Mister Tetsubara from the Mr.Fixit shop.
"Yes, they are," confirmed Kimiko, hearing a group "ah" as that information was overheard and passed on. The Tendo mother found herself bemused as various gifts were placed in various young hands.
"Cool! Maybe I'll see you in school!" said a young girl to Haruka.
"That would be nice," admitted Haruka.
Ranma merely found a place out of the way and sulked about being dragged along for shopping. He knew what would happen. It was kind of obvious.
It took over an hour for Kimiko to work her way out of there, the little girls following behind her. Oh, and one pile of bags and packages that had legs.
Ranma, currently carrying what seemed to be four times his mass in packages, just continued to sulk. Seeing what was coming and being right had not been any consolation on this eventuality.
Of course, things got a little bizarre when:
