FutureKen: The Watch [Episode 183173]

"So I can summon 'em with this?" asked Ranma. "How the heck does that work?"

"Through a superspace function," said the Master Brain, "when there is an emergency detected - each of them will retreat to superspace so that you can access them."

"No, I mean how does it work," explained Ranma.

"Oh, the watch lid flips up - and you can summon Rush," explained the Master Brain.

"Okay, and I can call others?" asked Ranma.

"That's the plan," agreed the Master Brain. "We're adding Roll, Rock, Axel, Forte, Beat, Robo, Auto, Blues, and eventually Eddie."

"Oh, Robo's the big guy, ain't he?" asked Ranma. "He ain't the talkitive type, ya know."

"Some units are quite sparing with their communications," agreed the Master Brain.

"And some keep using language I don't follow," complained Ranma.

"I'll see about adding a translator," said the Master Brain.

Ranma flipped down the watch face. "I dunno, can't this get broken awful easy?"

"It will be built into one of your bracers, and will be armored to the point where it can't be easily broken." The Master Brain considered the lifesigns of the boy for a moment. "Your other bracer will be weighted so that your balance will be compensated as the armor used adds considerable weight."

"Yeah, I noticed thing weighs a good twenty kilos," said Ranma, hefting the wristwatch.

"Thirty nine point two five six," corrected the Master Brain automatically.

"Whatever," said Ranma. "So why can't I fight?"

"We are instructing you in Panzer Kunst, the fighting style developed for cyborg and robot warriors," reminded Master Brain, "yet that does not address your purely human limitations. Therefore we're working out an 'alternate summons' method where you could combine with your partner."

"Combine?" asked Ranma.

"It would be like wearing armor," said Master Brain. "If you combined with Beat - you'd be able to fly. Not as fast as Beat alone could manage, but still in excess of 75kph with excellent manueverability. If you combined with Rush, you'd gain heavier armor to soak up attacks and be able to 'skate' along surfaces at a high rate of speed."

Ranma's eyes sparkled. "Special Manuevers!"

"..." Master Brain 272 wondered if all little boys were like that. He tended to stick to R&D of new technologies, and this human interaction was very strange to him.

"She can summon her guardians to her side?" said the Grand Calzoni. "This endangers The Plan."

"Yes my liege," said the guardian J.I.N.-3.

"It is as you say," agreed the guardian J.I.N.-4.

"She is actually a he," pointed out J.I.N.-2.

"Except that he is actually our princess," said the Grand Calzoni. "You keep forgetting that, J.I.N.-2, perhaps you should schedule maintenance as 4 and 3 have."

"Uhm, I'll pass for now," said J.I.N.-2, "so how are we going to get past this? You've got the substitute ready but there's no way to make the switch if he's able to summon guards instantly."

"I have a plan," said the Grand Calzoni, chuckling evilly.
