"What?" asked Hotaru, on seeing someone.
"Mercury Power Make UP!" called out that someone, before leaping away.
"WHAT?!" exclaimed Hotaru, before shifting to her own sailorsuit.
"Get down!" called out Ranma as Saturn arrived.
"But..." asked Saturn, ducking behind a car but looking at Mercury and then at her sempai.
"You might as well tell her, I'm sorry - I just reacted when I saw the attack," said Mercury. "Got it! It's Sailor Pluto, she's atop the Arcade building."
Ranma sighed. "Okay, Hotaru. Sorry I kept it from you, but the hostility between the Inner Senshi and the Gatekeepers... we ain't as hostile to each other as we appear."
"EH?!" asked Saturn.
"We originally hit on this idea to confuse Count Devil and other opponents who might try to take advantage of our seeming hostility," explained Mercury. "We'll just get in a shouting match later to cover our apparent cooperation now."
Sailor Saturn actually followed that. "So... to confuse our mutual opponents, we've been against each other in public but in private..." This also explained a few comments Ranma had made to her in private about how he didn't dislike the Senshi or she shouldn't believe all the stories about them. So this was what he had been hinting about?
"We've been in nearly constant communication in private," said Mercury. "At least we of the Inner Senshi have. The Outers have actually been hostile and not in on our deception. That's how we both tend to 'accidently' meet as often as we do."
Saturn was rocked as other little 'clues' she'd been given went 'click' into place. "So the whole 'conquer the world' thing?"
"That's something Pluto came up with, and was repeated on that basis," said Mercury. "Usagi ruling the world? She doesn't even want to run for class president."
"So we play up the friction between us," said Ranma. "Maybe we've finally drawn them out and we can find out what they're planning."
Saturn just continued to stare.
"Okay, I see her," said Ranma. "Now if I can just get to her before she has a chance to teleport."
Pluto watched and silently cursed as a fog spread out. Mercury had apparently been wandering by, just as she or one of the Senshi seemed to accidently cross the path of AEGIS regularly, and seen the attack. Now they were cooperating, as they sometimes did when there was a perceived Menace.
Which meant that she had to retreat for now. There would be other chances to remove the menace named Ranma.
