Chained World - Rei: Feeling Frustration [Episode 184473]

by Kender

Travelling could be something to focus on in and of itself, but once the end was 'in sight', there was every reason to turn one's attention to that particular point. There was no reason not to do that, given that Rei knew that only a walk down a street would allow her group to arrive at the Tendo dojo. It wasn't even ten minutes away, and that would be be a bit much, even if they went slowly. Given the impatience that Genma showed, it was clear that she would certainly arrive there sooner than that.

So, she managed to find it odd that her mind was not purely considering the impending arrival at the dojo. Rather, she found her eyes dragged off towards something in the distance. She couldn't see it with her eyes, but she could sense it, and there was no way that she was going to just totally ignore something like that. If it had merely been something that caught the edge of her awareness, she might have merely taken it as something to be wary of.

As it was the clear psychic presence of another Rei, she knew that she could not brush it aside.

Each of her 'sisters' was a singular entity that was connected into a group web of mental energies. Due to that, they were always aware of each other, unlike the way that an outsider's mind might have to be touched. They could always feel each other, and that made it simple for them to notice each other. Despite the fact that she was not demonstrative, or forthright, she might have considered what their meeting to be one of understanding.

But the feeling that she got from that other Rei was one of malevolence, and pure hatred. That clone was not looking forward to anything but death and destruction, and that made her dangerous. They both had feelings, but while Ranma's Rei was feeling out what this world had to offer her, that other one only had feelings of disgust, distrust, and death on her mind. Finding out exactly what was on that other's mind would mean that she would have to actively reach out with her mind, and, for once, she didn't feel all that welcoming towards one of her fellow clones.

That was something of a major leap for her, and she knew that she would have to keep an eye out for that one. It wasn't that she held anything against another Rei, but that she had... reservations about the situation. She knew that what she was feeling might be simple overreactions, but it just felt like she would be the safe thing to do. And if she was not going to be active about it, she might as well be simply cautious.

"Rei?" her master's voice broke into her thoughts. "Is everythin' alright?"

She blinked and turned to look at his concerned expression. "It is nothing."

"Really? Ya kinda were looking a bit... worried for a moment there."

"Nothing that is an immediate concern. Something just caught my attention."

"Oh?"

"It was only a momentary consideration, nothing more."

"Ah. Okay, if ya say so."

At that moment, Rei hoped that her words were true for the long term as well.

Some things would be totally different between two worlds, but not Ryoga Hibiki being lost. He still was unable to find where he was going at the moment, and he knew that it frustrated the hell out of him. As it stood, he wanted to pound whomever might try to mock it, since that would give him an outlet to vent his feelings. Since no one was about to rush in to give him that opportunity, that wasn't going to be an option.

So, he had to work with being caught up in the forest. He knew that there were ways to find one's way in the forest, even without landmarks, but the fact of the matter was that none of the ones that he knew about were working. Every tree around him looked like every other tree, and he was particularly annoyed that he had more useless 'advice' that had come from well meaning people.

Still, he knew that it would only be trouble for him if he let himself get to be in too much of a 'huff', so he kept on going, while:
