Ami gave her friend a level look. "You do realize that you're offering to go get him so that he can marry one of us, right?"
"I didn't miss that part. After all, it's the whole point of this exercise in absurdity, right?"
"Well... yes. Something like that."
"See?"
"But... you are one of the candidates for the position too, remember."
"Yes, yes, I've got that point," muttered the raven haired girl. "That's something that I've already noticed. I haven't exactly seen any sort of explanation as to just how we choose who gets to have him as her husband."
"That's true," commented one of the blondes there.
"Except for you, Minako."
"HEY!"
"Sorry, but it's true," Rei drawled, and kept herself from shaking her head. She might not have minded being around the boy in question, but she couldn't understand just why her friend was so worked up over someone she hadn't even really flirted with.
Usagi looked over to where Minako was pouting before she frowned at her raven haired friend. "You will be careful, won't you?"
"Sure I will. Why worry about that?"
"Other than the fact that he's already shown some special abilities?" asked Ami.
"And he isn't exactly someone to play around with," Makoto grumped, crossing her arms over her chest. "He's pretty good, if I do say so myself."
"Which makes it more important that we bring him into our village."
"Even if you have to fight to make him do what you want him to?"
"Especially then. We can't just let some strange blunder around out there," Haruka scoffed.
"Easy for you to say. That's my friend out there."
"Which makes it more important that we get him to a place where we can watch over him," Setsuna commented, reaching over to give the emerald eyed girl's shoulder a reassuring squeeze. "You don't want him to get hurt by something that he doesn't understand, do you?"
"Well, no...."
"Then, let's go with what we have to do. Are you ready for what you've just volunteered for, Rei?"
The named girl gave off an emphatic snort. "Of course I am. I mean what can he do? He's just a normal human being after all. It's not like he can stand up to someone like me."
"You'd be surprised," Makoto murmured, her desire to protect her friend tinging her gaze.
"Don't worry about it. I won't hurt him. The point of this is just to get him back here."
"Which you should do without causing too much trouble," Usagi instructed.
"Causing problems is your specialty, remember."
"Meanie! I'm just looking out for him, that's all.
Rei rolled her eyes and wondered just what made this guy such a focus of concern for her friends. Sure, he was certainly good looking enough to make a girl wonder what it would be like to spend some time in his arms, but it wasn't like he was going to cause a great deal of trouble. From what she knew of him, he was a big talker, but had a habit of getting into the sort of problem situations that only a bit of panic would be available for a response. It made him a bit endearing, but it didn't exactly instill confidence in his abilities.
As far as she was concerned, she would be able to drag him to the altar pretty quickly. So that he could marry one of the girls who was friends with Minako, of course. She didn't have any particular designs set upon him, and she was focused on the job at hand... or so she told herself.
Sure that she could handle this perfectly, she smiled to herself, while:
