Identification: Rei Hino. Miko. Access approved. Connecting. said a voice.
Rei? asked another voice.
"Michiru, what's the location of the intruder?" asked Rei.
Near the temple, replied Michiru. It's really quite interesting, as he seems to know I'm watching him. Which should be impossible, of course.
"I'm on my way," said Rei, making 30' leaps as she progressed towards her goal. "Pull back. I've been given the capture mission."
Oh, I'm already pulled back. If I get any closer than 120', he seems to be able to get a pretty good idea of where I am. Currently I'm over 300' away, and he's settled down a little. Michiru's voice sounded amused.
Rei continued leaping but smiled. If that was the extent of the boy's talents, he was underestimating Michiru's capabilities considerably. Michiru was at the far edge of her range with result to her attacks, but she could still hit him at that range. "Understood."
Ranma was thinking 'ninja'. That fit with what his father had been talking about. So he'd found the ninja village, accidently kissed some gal (orange-flavored lipstick?) and then he'd bolted when they'd started talking about consequences.
This didn't sound good, and he wanted everyone to be calmed down before he met up with any of them again.
Unfortunately, someone was using an invisibility technique to keep an eye on him. Probably so that they could pinpoint his position for a team to take him down.
Well, he had a few surprises himself. His Pop had unsealed some nifty techniques the first time they'd run into something big and inhuman in the mountains. His Pop and him had learned and practiced some techniques since then, because it turned out that monster-hunting was actually good business. Not many monsters left, and some of them weren't exactly BAD monsters, but the ones that were usually had a bounty or reward out for them. Sometimes set by the not-bad monsters.
The ones that weren't bad monsters usually had a whole set of tricks and skills, some of whom could be learned by humans.
FWOOOM!
"Yeowtch!" Ranma leapt and twisted to avoid a column of flames striking where he had just been.
One of those gals from earlier, 'Rei' was standing atop one of the red archways. Flames were dancing around one hand. "Surrender now, and I promise I won't hurt you too much."
Ranma heard that and interpreted it to mean 'I will kill you relatively painlessly'. "Ta HELL with THAT!"
As soon as the boy moved, Rei used her abilities as demonslayer-ninja to hurl fire. Her plan was simple, encircle the boy and cut off all escape.
Unfortunately, he was moving pretty quickly and blurred into...
"Where'd he go?" asked Rei, looking around.
Michiru jumped down next to her a few seconds later. "I don't know. I lost him when he did that."
"Are you sure he's human?" asked Rei, a suspicion forming. "He might be one of THEM."
"His panic was entirely too sincere for that," said Michiru. "Perhaps one of those families that have left the area has now returned."
"Whatever the case," said Rei, forming a bow of flames between her hands, "his ass is toast!"
"Always so vulgar," commented Michiru.
"Men are," agreed Rei.
Michiru rolled her eyes at that.
