Iczer Nagisa: Third and Fourth [Episode 188203]

by Disruptor

Shinji was leaning on a steel handrail next to a sidewalk and looking out over the ocean. He saw a flash of yellow and pink out of the corner of his eyes and turned his head to see Nagisa heading towards her home. She hesitated and looked straight at him. She gave an amused shake of her and headed towards him.

"Thinking deep thoughts?" Nagisa asked.

"I was wondering why we do this. We fight Angels and then there is the way my father treated me. What about your parents?"

Nagisa frowned a bit and gave a sigh. "My parents were killed in a car crash a month before I summoned the Iczer Robo. I do miss them. Ever since I summoned the Iczer Robo, I've been feeling a bit calmer and more in control of myself. Before that, I was something of a crybaby. As to fighting an invading force of strange aliens, it has to be done so that everyone can survive."

"I guess so. I just wish that my father would treat me like a son and not a weapon."

Nagisa looked upwards and rolled her eyes. "Mister personality is your father? I don't know what's up with him. Right now he has six people watching me at all times and there seems to be another three watching you. Then there is Rei. I've heard that she lives by herself."

"I've been to her apartment once. It's an abandoned building that looks close to be condemned," Shinji replied.

Nagisa narrowed her eyes. "Why? I think your father is losing his mind. You have a pilot for a giant robot and you stick her inside an abandoned building where she could be killed by piece of falling plaster or some nut sneaking in and murdering her in her sleep."

"What about you? What about your quarters?" Shinji asked.

"A bit spartan, but it can be locked down easily enough and I have guards watching me or my house at all time now. I guess I'm too valuable to take chances with," Nagisa replied.

Shinji turned and faced the android girl. "I've been meaning to ask about Iczer Robo. How can you pilot it?"

Nagisa leaned down on the handrail and shook her head. "The person who left it for me was the product of highly advanced bio-manipulation. She became linked to me when I was Nagisa Kano. My mind was programmed, so to speak, on how to pilot the robot by the person who worked on her."

"Was Nagisa Kano? I don't understand that," Shinji said, shaking his head in confusion.

"It doesn't really matter to me anymore, but this is my third reincarnation after being Nagisa Kano. My soul kept skipping around my family until the memories were awoken by the great stress of seeing that Angel."

Shinji stared at Nagisa in disbelief.

"It's true. I now recall all three of my past lives in full and me dying each time. I guess that's helped with my emotional state," Nagisa said with a shrug. "As to what NERV can do with the knowledge, not much. As to this outfit, it was given to me by the person who gave me Iczer Robo."

"What happened to that girl you mentioned?"

"Oh, she's still alive somewhere. After this mess with the Angels, I intend to seek her out and travel once more by her side."

"I'm surprised that you're telling me this, and if we are being watched, you also told them," Shinji said.

"You needed someone to be honest with you and I felt it would be good to get out. And as to the watchers, what good is it going to do them? Besides, it's fun watching them scramble to make sense of me," Nagisa replied with a shrug. "I also want to tell you about Rei."

"What about Rei?"

"Iczer Robo requires two people to handle properly. Back then, I was not the pilot; I was more of an energy control for the robot's power. Since I'm now the pilot of that robot, I chose Rei to take my old position. I'm keyed in and I felt that it would be best if I chose another girl once more. Rei seems so much like that girl I met so long ago. Symmetry would be an answer as to why her."

"I see. Why haven't you used that robot more often?"

"The fights are going to get nastier for quite a bit. The longer Iczer Robo is delayed on being used, the better off we are."

"How did you get my father to agree to allow Rei to help you with the robot?"

"He couldn't have a say in it. The robot's energy has to be channeled willingly. I recall once where I really didn't want to fight, we almost got killed," Nagisa said with a sad look on her face. "I told Rei the same thing that I just told you and she accepted, although there was a bit of hesitation on her part. She will be of great help if another Angel shows up and she can't get to her Eva. I am glad of one thing though, I don't have to go through those silly synchronization tests to see if I can pilot Iczer Robo."

Shinji gave a short laugh. "By the way, Toji Suzahara is thinking about asking you for a date."

"He is not my type," Nagisa said with a laugh. "Thank you for the warning. I'll have to come up with some way of letting him down gently. I'm heading home."

Shinji just shook his head and thought about his father some more and his doubts grew about NERV, although his resolve to fight was strengthened by the talk with Nagisa. Elsewhere, one of the men assigned to watch over Nagisa grimaced and took the report back to Gendo Ikari, along with the conversation with Shinji.

Gendo looked at the man who brought the report and gave a cold stare. "Send Doctor Akagi in and get back to watching the Kara girl. I also want a report on how she knew how many watchers were on her and Shinji. We are going to have to beef up our security training if a school girl can spot our watchers."

"Yes, sir," the man said, and quickly left.

Soon, Ritsuko came into Gendo's office, while rubbing her forehead.

"Still trying to figure out Nagisa Kara? No matter. As soon as the Second Child arrives, I want you to perform a little experiment," Gendo said.

"What sort of experiment?" Ritsuko asked.

"I want you to take a sample of Kara's genes and inject them into Langley's system," Gendo said. "You will do it during one of the synch tests."

"Why not Rei or Shinji?"

"Shinji can pilot Unit One and as to Rei, she has a new duty. At first I was a bit angry, but now that I have a bit more of the story, I have to let it slide."

"What are you talking about?" Ritsuko asked.

Gendo gave a summary of the conversations overheard by the people he assigned to watch over Nagisa. Ritsuko frowned, as she listened to Gendo. She quickly realized that Gendo was still trying to get Yui out of Unit One and that was the reason for the experiment with Asuka. She clamped down on her feelings and thought about the problem from a scientific view.

"What about Seele and the Human Instrumentality Project?" Ritsuko asked.

Gendo let out a long sigh. "However it was done to get Nagisa Kano to reincarnate like that is a better way to bring Yui back than Third Impact. I also want to see if what was done to Kara improves humanity in some way."

"Other than having sight and hearing so enhanced that only million yen sensors can beat?" Ritsuko asked. "I'm not surprised she was able to spot her minders. She probably heard their heartbeats or spotted them in a pitch-black room. Well, pitch black for us. I'm exaggerating a bit, but not by much. As to injecting Asuka with Nagisa's genes, it's a bit unethical. But, we are at war."
