The monster nodded its head rapidly. "Yes. It occurred to me 'n a few of my mates that working for the bad guys really stunk to low hell and all. Do you know what I mean?"
Usagi slowly shook her head, the entire idea of monsters/youma/cardian/daimons/faceless minions abandoning their dark masters and trying to find a better deal completely alien to her.
"Well, maybe I should've chosen that Mercury girl's closet. 'Cept she went and offed the Terakoiya so she isn't always reasonable either." The monster considered her briefly. "Look. Don't you think the whole 'monster menacing mankind' schtick is kinda cliche? Your typical Demonic Overlord's idea of benefits is 'I don't kill you now' whereas the good guys at least generally try to live happily ever after or something. So what I'm doing is testing the waters. See if your side can be reasonable."
"Oh," said Usagi. "I don't think we can pay you. None of us are wealthy."
"Well, that's pretty much what our Dark Master is like too. We can talk minimum wages and the like when you've got your kingdom."
Usagi considered her normal responses to seeing a monster and tried to figure out what the appropriate response here was to a big masculine looking monster in her closet. Screaming and running would bring the rest of her family and didn't seem to be necessary. Blasting him into moondust - likewise didn't seem called for at the moment. Fainting was acceptable.
"Hang on, let me use my Sailor Communicator." Usagi said, deciding to ask the others for their opinion on what to do about this. "Uhm, what exactly are you, anyway?"
"Oh, I'm from the new menace about to strike out at you and humanity, etcetera etcetera. You know that drill by now. This particular Dark Menace is conjuring us up - we're:"
