• We're survivers of a horrific scurge that destroys planets. Unfortunately one jerk managed to convince a bunch of the others that we ought to conquor a planet so we have somewhere to live
• We're the inhabitants of a parallel universe, not to different from you.
• We're the inhabitants of a parallel universe, not to different from you. Except that apparently in your world an asteroid killed off our ancestors the Dinosaurs.
