Post Third Impact: Chance To Chat [Episode 190689]

by Kender

There seemed to be a lot of a reason for Ranma to not trust the girl in black, at least from what he could sense. She didn't seem to be all that sweet of a person, and did apparently have something going on that wasn't particularly natural. Given the manner of how things were going, joining up with someone who didn't seem to be all that generous did look to be worrisome, but he had to admit that she also was likely the only one around who could do something about what was going on. If nothing else, the way that she showed up made it clear that she was quite capable in the power department, as not everyone could slip in on him like she had. And, if nothing else, she had some answers, which he needed at the moment.

As a result, he pushed aside any nagging worries, and shrugged. "I know that it might not be easy ta see her, but there's also another girl here. Her name's Aya, and she's kinda... goo right now. But when I touched it, I seemed ta get connected ta her. Or at least what's left of her."

"Let me get this straight. You actually voluntarily took in some of that glop, when all this is going on?" Evangeline murmured, seeming to be almost amused by the idea.

"Well, I didn't know what to make of the stuff...."

"Heh. You do realize that a little thought might have helped in that regard, don't you?"

"It wasn't like I knew what'd happened," he grumbled, shooting her a sour glance. "When all this happened, I was kinda sleepin'."

"Must have been a deep sleep, boy."

"You mind not calling me that?"

"Why wouldn't I do so, boy?"

"Other than it's kinda odd coming from a kid looking like you."

Scowling at him, Evangeline darted forward and leaned in towards him, displaying canine teeth that were certainly longer than what should have been on any girl girl, no matter how young she was. "When I was a child, people were still building castles, and horses were the fastest way to travel. Don't make the mistake of treating me like a child. And if I want to call you 'boy', then I'll call you 'boy'. Understand, boy?"

"Uhhh.... yeah."

"Good."

"You're that old?" Sayo asked, blinking slightly. "I never really thought that'd be the case."

"Did you ever take the time to notice that I never graduated from middle school? Hmmm...."

"Oh, right...."

"The things that we have to put up with," the blonde sighed, and took a deep breath. "What have you been doing for all this time then?"

"To tell the truth.... I don't know. You see, I know that I died sixty years ago, but it's been so long that.... I kind of forgot."

"You forgot?"

"Well... yes. The thing is that I've been stuck on the campus for all that time, and nothing has ever really changed. To tell the truth, I kind of got into a routine. It's kind of hard to do much else when no one can see or hear you," the ghost admitted.

"And now you're free."

"It looks that way. But I don't particularly understand why."

"I do," Evangeline growled, her expression pointing out an anger towards someone other than her current companions.

"You do?"

"Yes, I do."

The pigtailed boy sighed. "It'll be good ta finally have some answers."

"Won't be much help though. See, I only know what's been done in basic terms. It's not like what's going on has signs on it telling me the details."

"Then what do you know?"

"That someone has been a complete and utter idiot. You see, they've been playing with certain forces that aren't meant for mortal hands."

"Which means...."

"Whoever did this went and sent out a force that removed the energies that keep your mortal bodies together. Basically takes all that keeps you being one central 'you', and releases you to go to the four winds, or some garbage like that. But that's all that it is, taking away what holds you together as a person."

"And that let us out because...." Sayo trailed off.

"Either it removed all barriers when it took away the ones around the humans, or... once they were all gone, nothing was there to keep us sealed up."

"Cheerful thought," Ranma muttered.

"Isn't it though," Evangeline drawled, while:
