Post Third Impact: Introductions [Episode 190858]

by Kestral

"Uhm, you guys aren't human?" asked Ranma, wanting a little clarification on that. "You're a ghost that died in 1940?"

Sayo Aisaka in her sailor fuku nodded.

"And you're really an old lady?" Ranma asked the little girl.

Evangeline growled in response. Not that she was disputing the term's accuracy.

Ranma listened to a "little voice" briefly. "You're... something other than a ghost."

"YOU on the other hand," said Evangeline as she leapt down from her perch to stand next to Chachamaru, "are possessed."

"Possessed?" asked Ranma. "Oh. Aya."

"That too," said Evangeline, seeming to look at a point three feet beyond Ranma. "Let me guess. Some idiot trained you in the Catfist, aka the Nekoken."

THAT impressed Ranma. "You can TELL?"

"I cast a spell that increased my ability to sense spirits and ghosts, which as a daylight walker was already pretty good," admitted Evangeline. "I doubt the Jusenkyo curse would have helped you."

Now Ranma was VERY impressed. Also a little nervous.

"What's a Jusenkyo curse?" asked Sayo.

"Cold water based transformation magic," said Evangeline, making a dismissing gesture. "Not important. More a nuisance than a true curse."

"Hey it's been enough of a curse for me," indicated Ranma.

"Then you're not as much of a fool as you appear to be," said Evangeline, smiling in a way that looked properly villainous. "Only a complete idiot would seek out a curse."

"Well, uhm, I'm Ranma Saotome of the Saotome School of Indiscriminate Grappling," said Ranma, trying to regain his normal confidence and quite aware that he was completely outside his normal boundaries in this one.

"Indiscriminate Grappling?" asked Evangeline, her aura-of-menace vanishing as she pondered that. "Where have I heard that before?"

"Consulting database," said Chachamaru. "Match found. Happosai."

"Oh, HIM," said Evangeline, snapping her fingers. "I remember him now. Short guy. Taught me his martial art style right after I arrived in Japan the first time. That was a hundred years ago or so. Or was it two?"

"You know the old freak?!" asked Ranma, a little aghast.

"Maybe it was three?" asked Evangeline. "No. That was China. Or was that Thailand?"

Ranma shuddered. The Old Ghoul, the Old Freak, and now the Old-Young Hag.

"Whatever," said Evangeline, deciding none of that was important. "You're of THAT school, and... maybe you ought to run."

"Huh? Why?" asked Ranma, noting that the Young Hag was staring at something in particular. Naturally he turned and looked to see what she was looking at.
