It had been about two years since the fiasco with Incognito, but since then, the standing of the Hellsing Organization was pulled back out of shame by the Queen herself. And after all those problems, including the political ones, Sir Integra Wingates Hellsing’s private doctor had some disturbing news. She was pregnant.
“What in the world do you mean by that?!”
“Well, as part of your standard check-up, I checked for signs of pregnancy, as per required by my contract with the Hellsing Organization. It seems you are three months pregnant. I also suggest that you quit smoking for at least the next year.”
Laughter could be heard in the den of the Hellsing Mansion.
“Alucard, shut up!”
“I believe that proves it,” Walter began, much to Integra's annoyance. “Such a mood swing was normal for your mother when she had you.” He turned to the doctor. “Thank you for your services. We’ll contact you again in two months.”
After the doctor left, Walter turned to Integra. Before he could speak, Seras Victoria burst into the room.
“You’re going to have a baby!?” she exclaimed.
“And who told you?” asked Integra, clearly annoyed.
“Master Alucard told me.”
“ALUCARD!!”
He stuck his head out of the wall. “Yes?” He got his face pelted with a silver ashtray. His trademark grin was his only response.
“Who’s the father?” Seras asked. “Is it you, Walter?”
“My goodness, no!” Alucard chuckled at that.
“I don’t know who the father is, but when I get my hands on him...” She then mentally counted to ten. “Well, this is likely going to be the only heir I’ll ever have, so I’ll raise this baby anyway. That is, if I really am pregnant.”
“You smell pregnant,” Alucard said.
Walter finally spoke up. “Sir Integra, it seems that some arrangements need to be made, especially since whatever organization that was making the Freak vampires hasn’t been shut down. I suggest that Miss Victoria be the baby’s nanny.”
“Sounds like fun!” Clearly, Seras was very enthusiastic about children.
“Seras,” Integra began. “I don’t want you being weak or hungry around my child, so you will be put on a double ration of medical blood. That’s an order!”
Seras stood at attention. “Yes ma’am!”
Integra waited until she was holding the baby to name him. He had pale skin and slightly slanted eyes like one of oriental descent, but he had Integra’s platinum-blonde hair and blue eyes.
“Walter, Seras, and Alucard, do you have any suggestions for a name?”
“I suggest naming him Arthur, after your father.”
“I like the name Henry.”
“How about Ranma?” Everyone slowly turned to Alucard and gave him strange looks. “It’s a Japanese name meaning ‘Wild Horse’.”
“Why that name?” asked the mother.
“He looks kind of Japanese,” said the ancient vampire. “And his blood smells like it too. Besides, such a name implies independence and strength.”
“Okay. Ranma Arthur Henry Hellsing... No. Ranma Henry Arthur Hellsing.” She blinked. “Perfect.”
It seemed as though Ranma was smarter than your average baby. He always managed to peg Alucard in the head with his silver rattle. At first, they thought it was some sort of instinctive hatred for the undead, but then they realized that he never hit Seras with it.
