Usagi had not only struck the water, but Rei as well, and their linked hands had come apart in the impact.
Rei collapsed as soon as she was clear of the water, too exhausted to move another inch.
Usagi managed a little further, and was quite aware that she and Rei were naked and that the water they'd just come out of was odd. She was a little concerned about that for a few seconds before she fell asleep as well.
The dark shadow that crept up to them was therefore not something either noticed.
"You got two of them?" The bangaa scratched his head. "They don't look terribly strong or useful."
"Don't underestimate... wait a minute. I thought they were human."
"Well, viera DO look mostly human-ish," said the bangaa. "I can see why you'd get confused."
"We needed someone to try this stuff out on," said the baknamy. "These'll do fine. Hold that one's mouth open, three drops are supposed to do it."
"Who are they?" asked the doctor.
"Unknown. When they landed, they were naked and, well," the soldier shrugged.
"It was in a combat zone," said the doctor. "That much I got."
"I know it's pretty bad, but how bad?" asked the soldier.
"It took fourteen hours of surgery and if it weren't for bionic replacement parts, they wouldn't have lasted five," said the doctor.
"When they were semiconscious and loaded on the transport, I overheard names," said the soldier. "That young one is named Hotaru."
"This other looks close enough to Samus to be her sister," said the doctor.
