Firebird and Lion: Early Differences [Episode 192956]

Coran shifted a bit uncomfortably before he began speaking.

"Um? Miss Nom? I will have to contact New Lilis. Since you are from the original Lilis, they will want to talk to you," Coran said.

Lanba grimaced at that. "I really don't feel like talking to people from New Lilis."

"Why?" Allura asked. "They're your people, aren't they?"

"I was not part of what happened, since I was on board the DalDal being altered at the time and my memories are very fuzzy around that time," Lanba said a bit sadly. "However, my family was blamed for selling out to Garimoth and Shazara joined the Bunker in order to kill me. Allura, she would be to me like Nanny is to you. I was forced to kill her in self-defense. That was about two weeks ago, not counting the time we spent in stasis. I do not want to be killed for something I had no control over and had nothing to do with, so I'd rather Coran not contact New Lilis."

"I understand why. Trust me, I do," Coran said. "It's just that there is so little left of Old Lilis and anything new that you could add would probably be appreciated."

"I don't want to risk my life on something that they can live without," Lanba said.

"Lanba?" Mia said. "That's not the real reason."

Lanba smiled. "True, Mia. You know the truth. However, I am a pilot of a Danfighter now. Nothing more, nothing less."

Mia nodded and her eyes lost focus for a moment. The other Danfighter pilots also had their eyes lose focus and the Voltron Force had the feeling that a conversation was going on. After a moment, Lanba and the others snapped out of their semi-trances and nodded at each other.

"Coran, if you can promise that Lanba will not be put at risk, Lanba will allow some questions. Although, there are questions she will not answer, since they will be too painful," Mia stated.

"That's really freaky the way you four do that," hunk said.

"We are what we are," Pai replied. "I think a little bit of history is in order."

Pai went into a brief explanation of Dr. Tarsan and how they all met. She went on to describe their first memory of Gil Berg and the subsequent flight. She skipped over the bit of regaining her memories and travelling to the Bunker Fleet, to keep the fact that she was Garimoth's daughter a secret. She also forgot to mention Danagaioh, and she quickly finished up with Tarsan switching sides to that of his masterpieces and the journey to Earth.

"We traveled to Earth and fought Gil Berg and thought he committed suicide to prevent from being saved from his craft exploding," Pai stated with a shrug of her shoulders. "He could have done a lot of damage if we hadn't stopped him."

"You are hiding something," Allura stated.

"We're hiding lots of things," Pai said. "Things in our past that caused us nothing but pain when we recalled them. For Lanba, it was the planet she was from and Shazara. She heard about Lilis being destroyed and then had to kill a person she cared about within thirty minutes of that."

"So at first, you thought you were robots or androids?" Pidge asked.

"Yes, but it was a lie of Doctor Tarsan's to try and control us. He was going to sell us to Garimoth to be used as a weapon for him. Fortunately, I recalled a bit of my past and that started the chain of events that wound up with us floating in that solar system with us being enemies of the Bunker," Mia replied. "Sadly, the memories that Doctor Tarsan took from the others came back and they had to deal with the memories of being betrayed by those they trusted the most. I have never recovered my full memories. I'm a little afraid to, after seeing what the others went through."

"Which is another reason Lanba doesn't want to talk to anyone from New Lilis. There is too much pain for her," Coran said, shaking his head.

Lanba nodded.

Coran gave a deep sigh. "I will make sure that the government of New Lilis understands your concern and what you have told us of your past. They are probably going to want proof of your claim of being from Lilis."

Lanba glanced at her right hand. A strange sparkle emanated from it and then she held her hand up with the palm facing towards Coran. On the palm of her hand was a strange symbol in glowing light that went almost to the tips of her fingers.

"Is the symbol of Lilis on my hand proof enough?" Lanba asked.

"Er, yes. I think it would be," Coran stammered a bit in shock.

The symbol faded and Lanba closed her fist with a finger pointing out a window.

"Everyone from Lilis could do that," Lanba explained, while. "Tarsan altered that ability in me to do this."

A yellow laser beam shot from Lanba's index finger out the window.

"I didn't fire that at the roof, because I might have blown away a support structure and cause the castle to collapse on us," Lanba said with an impish grin. "Of course the four of us would survive it. The four of us can take a little more damage than a normal human can."

"I see," Coran said.

"We're going to go check on the Danfighters. If someone with a bit of mechanical skills would come with us, we would appreciate it," Mia said.

"I'll go. I want to take a better look at those fighters," Pidge said.

"Might as well go see the things up close," hunk added.

After the six left, Keith looked at Coran.

"You're going to contact New Lilis, aren't you?" Keith asked.

"She is a link to that almost forgotten past. They do deserve the chance to know that there is someone that can tell them about their past. I will impress on them the reasons she is reluctant to contact them," Coran replied.

"Reasons she said but not the main reason," Lance countered. "I noticed that Pai was being careful in what she said. Other than Mia, none of them told us what their pasts were. We know what planets they are from, but not the specifics."

"I think that memory erasing that they all went through was more effective than what it looked like. In a very real sense, they are the creations of Doctor Tarsan. The personalities they have now, might have been influenced by their previous ones, but they aren't the same people that Doctor Tarsan started working on," Allura said.

"They also have that mind link thing going on. I've never heard of anything like that. Have any of you?" Nanny said, while kneading her apron in her hands.

"Not to that degree," Keith replied. "There are a few twins and triplets that do have that ability, but not as advanced as those four have. Coran, make sure that the government of New Lilis understands that these people are dangerous if provoked. How dangerous, I'm not sure yet."
