In another world, another time, he would have been far more professional and less lecherous. He also wouldn't have gotten along with Hinata very well. Some things were different. Here he was Hinata's brother, and here he mainly disparaged his ineffectual and overly nice sister.
He was working on extending the Byakugan so that he could take photographs that way. Get some nice posters made. He'd already managed to get a few shots of Sakura Tendo (even if she WAS a flatchested billboard-brow) and of Michiru and Setsuna. Though he had to be careful to take only pictures while Setsuna was asleep or distracted as SHE seemed to suspect something going on.
Soon he was hoping to fine-tune the control and range, then he'd have the pictures to decorate his room with all the lovely little kunoichi flowers.
Hey, he was a teenage boy. It was his DUTY to do such things.
Neji smiled as he focussed through the camera. Though it looked as if everyone at the Tendo home was agitated. No good photo opportunities there. Still there was Sakura, bending over. Now edit out the clothing and...
A sudden MALE figure interrupted the line of sight and caused Neji to nearly throw up. "HOW DARE YOU?!"
"Huh?" asked the male, seeing someone collapse on a rooftop. "Hey, are you okay?"
"You," said Neji, getting back up. "You fiend."
"Huh?" repeated the male. "Never mind."
Neji realized someone had seen him taking photos. Well, he'd just smash this wretch as a warning.
Hinata looked outside as the sounds of some fight reached inside, drawing her from the swirl of thoughts and conflicted feelings she had since earlier.
WHACKUM!
"huh?" asked Hinata as she watched her brother come slamming down into the ground amidst a swirl of photographs.
BONK! went a falling camera as Hinata looked up.
She wasn't sure but she thought she was only unconscious for a moment.
"You're okay?"
Hinata Hyuga stiffened as she realized she was being held. In warm, strong, arms. By a boy whose name she STILL didn't know despite being touched more by him than any boy had ever touched her before. "Ah?"
Blinking her eyes open confirmed what she'd already concluded. Same boy. "Ah. H-h-h-hello."
"Sorry about this," said the boy. "Didn't see you until this guy attacked me. What was up with that?"
"Ah," repeated Hinata, her conscious mind having practically shut itself down. "I."
"Sorry, I gotta hide, otherwise I'd make sure you was okay," said the boy.
An Inner Hinata rose up within her. "H-h-h-here. You can hide here."
"I can?" asked the boy, flashing her a relieved-looking smile.
Hinata felt something within her melt into a little puddle at the sight of that smile. A boy was SMILING at her?! A HANDSOME boy was smiling at her?! "Unnn." She at least managed to nod. A handsome boy was smiling at HER!
Ranma was relieved. This gal seemed awfully frail or something. Clumsy too. Though it might be his old man's fault. Come to think of it, probably was. Not everyone could take being a landing pad for an overweight panda, and now getting clobbered by a big old Instamatic type camera. Sucker had to weigh twenty pounds.
So he could lay low until the old man stopped looking for him, and keep an eye on this weird girl who kept getting hurt by his old man.
It was about time that fate obeyed the law of averages and stopped using him as a whipping boy. He was way overdue for a break.
