GX-Saviour: What makes you think I'm a Newtype? [Episode 193487]

by Yasanagi

"So which way to the launch bay?" asked the pilot to his two companions.

"We're actually in a sunken submarine near the bottom of the Sea of Lorelei. We were lucky to find it in time or else those low-life brutes would have finished us," mentioned Rosa.

A light frown crossed the pilot's face. "Hmmm... this changes a few things. Hold on while I make some adjustments to make it more suitable for aquatic combat."

"You seriously think you can go up against what those guys are piloting? They seem well prepared to fight underwater."

"I doubt they would let us head to the surface without a fight, Rick. I need to be prepared. Since we're taking shelter in this sunken sub, I may as well make good use of whatever time we have before we have to blow this joint." He looked up to the top of his cockpit and pulled down a keyboard interface. 'May as well see what I have to work with.' He flexed his fingers briefly before starting to rapidly tap the keyboard to access his unit's software.

Rosa's curiosity got the better of her as she squinted at whatever information flew by on the monitor. 'Fixed armaments: satellite cannon, mounted on backpack, hand-operated in use, powered by super-microwave energy beam relayed from lunar solar power station; large beam sword, stored in recharge rack in backpack, hand-carried in use; 4 x vulcan gun, fire-linked, mounted in chest... a heavily armed unit. As expected from a Gundam.'

'Equipment: flash system, allows Newtype pilot to remote-control FX-9900 GX-Bit mobile bits and to operate satellite cannon; "G-controller" removable control stick in cockpit, required to activate mobile suit and operate satellite cannon; sensors, maximum range of 1.5 km...' Rick's eyes widened as he realized something. "Flash system... hey, maybe you can activate that and summon some G-Bits to our location to help us out!"

"What makes you think I'm a Newtype?" He tapped the keys faster as he accessed the mobile suit's operating system and added more algorithms that would allow his unit to work better under water. "I really don't recognize that term to be honest..."

'No... this guy has to be a Newtype. Nobody could make instant adjustments to their mobile suit in that fashion!' A loud creaking sound interrupted Rosa's thoughts. "What was that?"

Before anyone could respond, the wall in front of the GX burst and the room started to fill with water. "Ths hull just breached!" exclaimed Rick.

The pilot got out of the software code and put the keyboard back to where it came from. "Then this is as good as it gets. I would rather not see how much water pressure the GX can handle. Hang on!" The pilot pressed his foot against the pedal to power up the GX's propulsion system. With a quick swing of the beam saber, the GX created an exit through the submarine's port wall and began its ascension to the surface.

His sensors alerted him to an incoming aquatic mobile suit, identified as DTM-7200 Daughseat III, that had just fired two torpedo rounds. He jerked the G-Controller to the right to cause his mobile suit to evade the first torpedo. Then he fired his chest vulcan guns and forced the torpedo to explode in front of him, effectively creating a screen. With the enemy temporarily distracted, he pushed his unit's thrusters to the maximum to get out of the water.

With a mighty splash, the crew of both the Mirage and the Rosa Rosa were treated to a rare sight of a black GX-9900 emerging from the water with anti-air torpedoes being fired from below. "Let me borrow the radio for a second! And head towards the ship on our right! We have something that can help you!" The pilot shifted just a bit so the girl could reach the communications system. "This is Rosa II calling the Rosa Rosa! Prepare the G-Falcon and have it on stand by when the GX lands!"

"Roger that!"

The pilot grunted as he dodged another anti-air torpedo. "G-Falcon?"

"It's supposed to act as a support fighter for the UNE's Gundam units. It should give you more firepower to handle the guys who tried to kill us down there," replied the girl.

"Much appreciated young lady." With another shift, he caused his mobile suit to do an aerial backflip to avoid another torpedo before making a beeline towards Rosa's ship. On the large surface was a black and red fighter craft. "As soon as I land, you guys better get on the ship and get to safety." The mobile suit gently landed on the deck and lowered itself so that Rick and Rosa could disembark safely. After the two left the cockpit, he wondered how the heck he would get the G-Falcon to work until he saw Rosa climbing into it. "What do you think you're doing?!"

"The G-Falcon requires a pilot. There's no way you can go through the docking sequence by yourself!"

Realizing it was pointless to argue at this point, the GX pilot merely sighed and took off again. The G-Falcon took up the rear and approached him carefully, gliding just directly over the GX. "Docking sequence engaged!" The G-Falcon begun its transformation with the front module shifting forward to create enough room to fit around the GX. The front module settled in front of the chest armour while the aft module attached itself to the back while having the back panels and the satellite cannon shift itself into a more comfortable position.

"Docking sequence completed. Now, let's take care of those rogues underwater..."
