This stretched to the breakfast table, as they weren't like some other clans that would eat whatever they could on the go. Meals were had together whenever possible, and they were properly cooked foods, but this didn't come from any sort of rigid attachment to tradition. Rather, it came from the sense of accomplishment that Kasumi got from cooking, and from a desire of the family to be together at that time.
So, as the sun bathed the area in golden hues and intense colors, its brightness illuminated a full table in the Tendo home. Food covered the table, with delectable scents rising right up from each and every platter. A kettle's spout gently freed a small fog of steam as it rested on its own, waiting for someone to need a cup of tea.
And Ranma was grinning broadly as he helped put out the silverware. His mood was clearly happy as he went to assist Kasumi, as he had a bit of a bounce in his movements. Then again, the biggest sign of his enjoyment of being there was more than likely the fact that he was flipping each chopstick and spoon out of the hand that he was holding them all in, and was catching them with the other so that he could put them down on the table.
"Do you really have to show off first thing in the morning?" Akane asked him, the admonishing tone in her voice dulled by the smirk on her face.
Ranma grinned right back at his friend. "Why not do it like this if you can?"
"Other than it isn't the normal way to do it?"
"Heh. You're just saying that because ya don't wanna to risk trying it yourself."
"Oh, you did not just go there," she murmured, her eyes narrowing.
"Nah, didn't mean that."
"Good."
"Yup. You'd probably not be able ta manage something like this," the pigtailed boy airily drawled.
"Oh, it's on!"
Glancing over at where the younger teens were now moving quickly, with Akane tossing up bowls even as she put down the last one that she'd caught, Nabiki pointed over at the pair. "They look rather like they're having fun."
"Don't they now?" Kasumi happily sighed. "I think that it's rather sweet."
"That's one way to look at it."
"You think so?"
"I know so. After all, the longer that they keep on playing, the later we'll eat, right?" the middle Tendo sister asked, leaning over the boy involved.
Turning to look at the speaker, Ranma... jumped back a little when he noticed that her full breasts were at his eye level. "Don't ya know where ya are pointin' those things?"
"Hmmm.... Am I that tempting then?"
"What do ya think?"
"Since you asked," Nabiki drawled, pressing her shoulder against him as she went to sit, "I think that I'm very appealing."
"Nabiki!" yelped her younger sister.
"Come on, it's not like I'm hurting anyone."
"That's besides the point. Doing that sort of behavior...."
"Is just fun and teasing, right, Ranma?" the short haired Tendo sister asked.
"Huh?" he went, his mouth already occupied with a fish.
"Never mind."
"Isn't this nice, Father," the eldest of the sisters commented, as Nabiki snickered and Akane groaned.
Soun just gave his first child a bleary look. "What is that, daughter?"
"Why, that everyone is getting along so well."
"They are?"
Eyeing the way that all three of the younger teens were laughing and smiling at each other, Kasumi nodded. "It certainly looks that way."
"That's good to hear then. Isn't it so, Saotome?"
"Wonderful," Genma muttered as he eyed the porridge in front of him with the eye of one with stomach troubles.
"Don't you like it, Mister Saotome?" the one who'd cooked it asked.
"I'm sure that it's wonderful."
"Then why won't you eat? You probably could take a little at a time...." Kasumi suggested.
"Perhaps when my head stops throbbing from all the noise."
"Ya've gone through this before, Pop," Ranma grunted around a bit of rice, and stopped long enough to swallow. "We ain't 'xactly 'bout ta quiet things down just ta satisfy ya when ya only drank yourself even stupider last night."
"Stupid boy! Argh...."
"See?"
"It's not like they'll have to worry about it for long anyway," Nabiki put in. "We do have to go to school soon."
"That should quiet things down for them two."
"Certainly. With all three of us out of the house, our fathers can wallow in their misery."
"Sounds.... Wait. 'Three'?" the pigtailed boy murmured. "Does Kasumi still go ta school?"
"No, of course not. She's already graduated from high school, and decided that she'd take care of the house instead of continuing on."
"Then...."
"You're going, Ranma."
"It's the school that Nabiki and I go to," Akane added in.
Nabiki nodded. "Daddy already signed you up."
"Wha? Huh?" grunted the pigtailed boy as he blinked in confusion at the younger sisters, while:
