In a world with Sailor Senshi and Gatekeepers, and with menaces to humanity appearing on a reuglar basis, it might be expected that there were others with powers and abilities.
Some preferred to stay out of the spotlight. Some were powerful. Some were competent.
Some were not.
Twelve young idol singers recruited for the purpose of Japanese television, to be spokesmodels, to be perky young faces defending the homeland and to look good doing it.
Midnight Musume was on the case!
Ranma slumped his head down. "This situation has just gone completely downhill."
"How bad could they be?" asked a technician.
"BAD," said Ranma. "You didn't see them during that 'Winter of UnDead Discontent' stuff."
"Well, I saw their music video," said the technician.
"They spent the entire time getting chased by fire breathing zombie penguins," said Ranma. "You know how Sailor Moon trips over her own feet? These gals trip over each other's SHADOWS."
"But they only do that a few times in their videos," said the technician.
"Yeah, but how many times do they do re-takes?" asked Ranma. "What are THEY doing here?"
"I called them," said Seiga, entering the pavilion dramatically.
WHACKUM!
"oops," said Ranma. "Oh well, sneaking up behind a martial artist is fraught with peril."
"Okay, this time we'll do it right!" said Aya, clenching her fist and posing dramatically.
"RIGHT!" chorused the other Midnight Musume members.
"No more will we get chased around three districts of Tokyo by zombie penguins!" declared Natsumi.
"No more will we run out of the station by a scary video!" declared Miki.
"No more will we be tied up in strange bondage positions by the monster of the week," declared Asuka.
"No no," said their director. "We save the pictures of that for 'sweeps' periods."
"Oh right," said Midnight Musume, all looking a little less thrilled at that reminder.
"For love and justice," said Aya.
"and better ratings," mumbled the cameraman.
"We shall prevail!" declared Miki.
"I'd settle for a few less panty-shots," mumbled Asuka.
"Hellooooooo," said Ryoga, going to an open door and yelling in it. "Anyone home?"
