She merely set him up with classes and training, and ignored the hostility directed towards the boy. The only thing she did in response was make sure the healers had a full stock of items, and put out a few words of caution that she knew full well were going to fall on deaf ears.
Little Ranma was just getting back from martial arts practice when Mousse stepped into his path.
"YOU!" cried out Mousse, pointing. "You are getting entirely too close to my Shampoo!"
Ranma looked at the boy, followed the pointing finger, and wondered why the boy was accusing that stack of firewood. Oh, wasn't Shampoo that gal who was always acting so put-out that he was staying in their home? Yeesh. It had been three days or so. Maybe he ought to try and remember that kinda thing.
"Keeping silent, eh? Take THAT!" said Mousse, sending throwing daggers into the wood.
"Why you attack wood pile?" asked Ranma.
"You moved?!" asked Mousse. "No matter, I'll get you now."
Ranma noticed the other little boys and girls assembling behind Mousse. Okay, this might be a problem. Especially as they had him kind of cornered. "You Mousse, yes? Ya want me to tell Shampoo you look her?"
"No, I want you to DIE!" declared Mousse, charging forward.
Ranma noticed the other little boys and girls charging forward, when suddenly everything went black.
Cologne was watching. She'd given the warning. She'd known it wouldn't do any good, that people were always so sure they knew better. All they saw was the quiet little boy with the blue eyes. They'd never looked deeper.
Well, she was relatively sure none of the children would be killed. If it looked likely, she'd have to get involved a bit more personally.
Everything was a blur, pretty much as usual.
The blur that was his opponent had helpfully declared himself. Now he knew which blur to attack.
Except something about the blur was changing. The colors shifted and the eyes raised.
Mousse stopped. Everything was still a blur, EXCEPT those red eyes. Eyes that looked at him like a speck, a bug, something of no consequence. Something that could be swept away by less than a finger-flick, crushed and bleeding. He saw Death.
Then he saw worse.
"AGHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!"
Cologne settled down onto her perch. Looks like she wouldn't be needed after all. Though she did have to wonder what all those children saw that had them running away like that.
After a few moments, Ranma shook himself as if suddenly waking up and looked around to find himself alone.
